I think it is because you try too hard and seek their approval, they find you vulnerable and hence walk.over you.

Donot defend your actions and do more work.just to impress them, it will get you nowhere.
It will only make you more exhausted.

Dont give a damn about what they think, say or do, but donot communicate that you dont care, put up an act.

Being true, etc..wont work in joint family. I am talking from personal experience. You need to be diplomatic without over exerting yourself.

My mom used work like crazy, no help or apprecitaion.she worked more.and.more hoping one day they will recognize her work..till date it hasn't happened.

My mom who is.not even sixty is physicallly more worn out than a 70 year old. Take care of yourself, nobody else will.
