I enquired and they said with silk thread, we can make jewelleries and in the workshop that technique is taught.

I attended this workshop in 2007 from Sakti training institute. All i found is that, its good to know and cannot be done easily like how we do beaded jewellery. This needs a wooden equipment to do necklace and anklets. There is no difference in the method except for the size we choose.

For bangles, you just need to spin some 10 strands of silk thread around a plastic bangles and stick the ends using fabric glue.

Anyways, I dont mean to discourage, but just thought would shed some light on what silk thread jewellery is meant.

You will find a dozen teachers in every area. The art was very popular about a year back,when there were few to teach and many to learn. I remember times when only two or three used to post. Now that we have IL as a amazing database, why dont you go through each of these threads in detail? I have been doing jewellery for over 2 years,and took classes for over a year.It is only about 8 months back that I stopped taking classes. What I would advise you is to take a basic course from any instructor in your area, so that you learn to use the tools and get the basic of knots. And after that, use IL as a warehouse of designs and ideas. Try seeing your neighbourhood newspaper for details. I am sure there is a tambaram times, or a similar one that will provide these details!
