    Dear Ilites,

I just want to know, while registering online job sites like Naukri.com, Shine.com etc. , is it safe to give our mobile no. ? anyhow we are mentioning our mail id while registering. When we get informations about the openings, we are going to apply to the companies with our CV, wherein, our mobile no is mentioned. Is it really necessary to reveal our mobile nos to the job sites.

Please pour in your views/experiences regarding this.

    Thanks in advance.

Dont have experience with online jobsites. However my understanding is this. Even though you have given your number in the resume, the jobsite people(each industry) will go thru your profile and will try to match yours with the employers requirement. They also need to have a genuine contact number to contact you if you need to apply through them , I guess that they get a % of income from the applicants if the jobsearch is successful. That is how they run the site.

This is my understanding. may be someone from HR would give you a clearer picture.

    All the best!:cheers

    dear latha,

i don't think you need to give your phone no. they will have your e mail address anyway to contact you. we don't need any nuisance calls in addition to the spam mails we receive.

Absolutely nothing to worry, it's safe in giving the cell number and all dangers lurk only when you lose your mobile with the sim card. It's for your sake the mobile number is mentioned and so far no negative reports have been reported. .

    Is it Safe: Yes
    Is it necessary: NO

People who would want to contact you will go through your resume and get the number. This is just a PR exercise by these sites who wants to add more features to their websites.
