Is it legal for new movies to be online??

    Hello Movie lovers,

    I just came across a website, where one of the latest movie(running in theaters now) is available to be watched online! Is it legal to provide that way?? Should we report that page? If yes, how do we do it? Thanks.

    :clap HAHAHA , sofea u said the right thing why to waste such an oppurtunity, why waste money on theatres if you can watch it free.. anyway its illegal to do so, but we have some entertainment thats what worth...

    It is not legal. But for people like me who live in a city where Tamil movies do not get released, it helps. If it is a new movie then it is there for the first 3-4 days. Afterwards it is removed.

    Only some movies are of good quality. Others, well it is better not to watch the movie online.

    We don't have a choice, so we watch the movies whenever possible.

    i agree, here no tamil movies are getting released nearby.so obviously we used to watch online...

    more important reason, most of the movies which is releasing nowadays are total waste to watch in theater..
    just run all those crap movies in pc, do hosehold works..thats my policy:)

    On a serious note, the legality of the films being available on such sites depends heavily on the licence provided for such. For instance, it's illegal to post an entire film in youtube but still some films are given licence to do it hence what normally becomes illegal has now become legal. Example- Actor Siddarth's Striker. The film was released on theatre and on youtube on the same day. And the youtube version is legal and can be downloaded.

    Not only youtube, certain websites like Indiaglitz too are now given licence to screen films legally. So before you make a complaint against the site, please ensure if the website is licenced to provide the film. If you proceed to lodge a report against the site despite they being licenced to screen the films, then you might be slapped with a defamation suit from the Admin/moderator of the site.
