I recently went to India for a vacation. On the day of return, I faced the following symptoms.
First day I got leg joint pain and couldn't walk well with mild fever
Next two days were whole body ache with much tiredness. Somehow I could manage travelling in the flight back to USA.
It continued for 4 more days.
Then I was feeling tired for few days but still pain in legs.
Now after 3 weeks I am ok except for the severe leg joint pain and little pain in my hands. I am not able to walk properly. Even waking up from sofa or bed is painful. Could walk only a few steps, climbing steps is even more harder. I am predicting it could be dengue.

I have booked doctor appointment next week.

Even my mom suffered from the same 1 week before me. And has similar issues. Still she has leg pain, not able to move and tiredness. Even the doctor in India did not diagnose the exact fever and prescribed
Paracetamol for pain and vitamin tablets.

Did anyone face such issues. Is it because of dengue. How did you recover? Please if anyone faced this let me know. Thank you.

Looking at the symptoms, i am making a guess that it could be chicken guniya/ or Viral Arthritis.
In these two cases you will have severe pain in the joints , body ache and leg pain. It will take time for the pain to reduce. First week will be very tough to manage.

Two people in my family had got this few years
Back. Doctor had got the blood tests done and gave medications. When the pain was severe, they had given pain killer injection.
    Take lots of rest.

You should try to see an infectious diseases doctor, preferably someone with experience in tropical diseases.

Fever reduced faster. But the pain took more than a month to completely reduce.

    ASW,
    hope you feel better soon.
Certainly visit an infectiuos tropical disease doctor if you can.
if it is chickngunya there is not much to be done- hydration, anti inflammatory tylenol / paracetamol and rest.
Chickengunya is debilitating and the post inflammation effects last a long time
Meanwhile i found this info on line.

it will be helpful, will not hurt, to take ginger, turmeric vitamin C rich foods in reasonable amounts throughout the day. I like to make a fresh turmeric, fresh ginger pickle in lime juice with salt and green chili; just slice or chop ginger and fresh turmeric root, in food processor add store bought lime juice and salt, some black pepper. Refrigerate. eat with every meal. This is very anti inflammatory and rich in vitamin C. and tasty.

If papaya and pineapples are acceptable and appeal to you, I would say try them. you can get canned pineapple or pineapple juice as the very idea of cutting fresh pineapple is bound to be daunting now.

In India, some ayurvedic herbs like shallaki ( boswellia) and ashwagandha are taken by some people, with good effect for the arthritic problems. Please do YOUR OWN research and look for an ayurvedic dr if you can find one. Many of the big US cities have ayurvedic shops with knowledgeable even BAMS graduates who work there.

Thank you so much radar. Your inputs are so helpful. Even I think that it should be chikungunga. In internet I saw it gives some black pigmentation in hands and nose. Even I have it.
Thanks for your diet suggestions. I will definitely follow it. Seems easy and worthy.
    Thank you so much.
