Hi I am also doing some trading under my friend's guidance. CNBC-18, NDTV profit are some of the channels dedicated to this field. I am new trader only. I created a Dmat Acc. before start trading. And I buy and sell as per his advice only. Really it is good attempt to create a new thread on this topic. Let us make this thread as informative. Regards Selvi Suraj
Samba, I know a few people who make good money in day trading in india. and i am guessing that srividya is talking about position trading/swing trading after delivery and not day trading.. just out of curiosity are you talking about day trading not being profitable from us point of view or from indian point of view.
I don't think that it can work anywhere. it's another matter to hear success stories anecdotally. In investing people tell better cocktail stories with their successes than their failures. Here is something very instructive of investors' true behavior. This is from the actual performance of the investor accounts (Dulbar's latest study). Dalbar Study Also check US SEC's caution about day trading., esp about not trusting claims of superior performance in day trading. I believe this to be true. Day Trading: Your Dollars at Risk Any way, day traders can look like geniuses when the market is raising. In fact so do all people who are long on stocks. Personally I knew a few who were into day trading eventually getting out of it after realizing that there is no free lunch and they only ended up feeding commissions (and margin interest in some cases) to brokerages.
I personally dont believe in Day Trading. I stay out of that. I suggest you can look to trade maybe once in a few months if you really need to be "short term", but for the most part, I prefer long term. Just my opinion. I do know there are successful day traders, but its not my cup of tea.
i am beginner in this,in process of learning of stocks,i have the following questions, appreciate if you all could help me 1.which do you suggest is the better market for stocks india or us or is there anyone who invest in both countries..? 2.is there any simulator to help me to study trading in ndian market..?Like, i registered in Investopedia.com - Your Source For Investing Education which is a pretty good one to learn trading in us?

Hi, To invest in stock u hav 2 take one DEMAT account and broking account.most of the banks providing this facilities now but der brokerage charges r higher than other brokerage firms. Some banks charging for demat account opening charges , and AMC(annuel maintenance charges).
