Hi Ladies, Hope everyone are doing good. I just need few information about quinoa. I am right now into 6th week of my pregnancy. I was instructed to check my sugar level for one of the illness i had earlier and the results are in border so doctor advised me to follow strict diet plan as there is a possibility for me to get a gestational diabete. I would like to add quinoa in my diet in the form of upma. My question is does it turn as a heat element to the body as i heard so. Is it good to add in my diet at this period or may be i can add from second trimester.? or what type of millets we get in USA. i only get to see this. Anything else i can look for? Can you all please suggest your inputs. It would be of great help. Thank you all.!
I think you can eat quinoa. It is a good source for protein. Check here for more information A List of Vegan Super Foods for Pregnant Women | LIVESTRONG.COM
In the US apart from Quinoa you can get Amaranth, and yellow millet. I have seen those at whole foods, central market and HEB. And of course if you have an Indian store nearby you can get ragi, bajra and jowar.
