    Hello:

Within next few weeks we will move to Boston due to the job of my husband,he will be working at Tuft (New England) Medical Center.
This is downtown and very expensive.

I'd be obliged if community here helps me to find out best place to live.
    Our priorities are as follows:

    1. Rent upto 1200$ -1300$
    2. Indian community, grocery stores and restaurants
    3. Easy commuting to Tuft via Subway (<20 mints)
    4. Good elementary schools-My son is 7 yrs old
    5. Secure,safe area
    Pls help friends!

If you want to commute using the T I would suggest somerville, medford or malden. These are cheaper than downtown and within the city limits - so you dont have to take the commuter rail. Somerville has a few indian grocery stores and restaurants. I am not too sure on the elementary school as my daughter is not schooling age yet.

    Hi,

First of all welcome to Boston. I'd suggest Arlington, MA. Excellent schools, T,restaurants, Indian store, friendly people and the list goes on.You can get more info by e-mailing parents@arlparents.org.

    Good luck,
    Moonlightpath

    Hi,
Welcome to Boston. All the other places that the others mentioned are good. You could also try Belmont and Newton if you are looking for good school areas. Belmont is very near to the red line station Alewife where your hubby can park his car and take the subway to his office. In Belmont there are very few apartments but there are many rental homes there.
In newton there are many apartments. You can drop your hubby at auburndale commuter rail station where he can take the train to North Station and from there he will get Orange line to Downtown Crossing(thats where Tufts Medical Center is located). Check out MBTA.com for subway, bus and commuter rail information.
Just go through google maps and see the cities that are close to his office. Then go to apartments.com or rent.com and you can see many apartments. Belmont, Newton, Lexington, Arlington, Acton-all these are very good school districts. But apartments are expensive in Lexington and Arlington. Go through Greatschools.net and see the school ratings for any area that you select.
If you have any doubts please write and I will try to find the information for you. All the best!!:thumbsup

    Hi

Welcome to Boston. I also moved here last year from Dallas texas. I live i quincy. It has very good indian crowd and in the Red line.

Indian groceries and regarding the school district i don't know anything as my daughter is ony 3.5

The rent is also reasonable and many apts have free shuttle facility to the nearest T in the morning and evening.

    Bye

    Hai

No, it is wrong. It takes around 30 mins. that is it. My hubby takes the T to downtown. It is so convenient too.

I live in Highpoint Apartments. It is near Quincy Center station.

    Bye
