Indian Serials - wth %*^&%^&$^

the IL's actually don't own a tv, having sold it when the saas-bahu era started i am starting to appreciate them even more.

but my friend was just talking about this same issue she has with her IL's. it's not so much them watching it she says, but that her little one also watches and absorbs the regressive messages. she tries to cut them some slack because they don't have much to do during the day when she is working.

to me it is the larger issue of dumbing down society via these regressive messages and the effect it has on impressionable minds. it is also rather telling of how standards are falling, because it used to be that series like Udaan were quite capable of entertaining without having to resort to the low substance and shallow content drivel that passes for family entertainment these days. and don't even get me started on the reality show trend taking things down several notches. it's not much different here, which is why we don't have cable.
