Indian Child 'Critical' After Brutal Rape: Doctor New Delhi. A five-year-old Indian girl was battling for her life on Friday after being kidnapped and brutally raped, in the latest incident of violence against women and girls which has triggered protests. The girl was attacked inside a locked room in New Delhi over a 48-hour period, police said, after being abducted as she played outside on Monday. A neighbor is alleged to have taken her and locked her in a room close to her house in a lower-middle class area of the capital city, a police spokesman said. "We initially registered a case of kidnapping. We have now launched a preliminary inquiry into rape and attempted murder," Rajan Bhagat told AFP, adding a hunt was on to catch the main accused. The girl was admitted to the intensive care unit of a city hospital on Wednesday and doctors said her condition was "critical". "The girl was traumatized when she was brought to us. There were injuries to her lips, cheeks and chest wall. There were bruises on her neck," R. N. Bansal, medical superintendent of Swami Dayanand hospital, told NDTV news channel. Another media report said the girl's genital area had been mutilated. "There were foreign objects found inside her and this has resulted in infection," the CNN-IBN news channel said, quoting another doctor at the hospital. She was found after a passerby heard her crying and alerted the police. The incident provides grist for a growing debate in India over the status of women and girls and their safety in a country which was rocked by the brutal gang-rape of a student in Delhi on a bus last year. The woman succumbed to her injuries 13 days after the assault in which her attackers drove an iron rod inside her, damaging her internal organs. The attack on the student triggered nationwide protests and prompted lawmakers to toughen punishment for sexual offenses. The parents of the five-year-old girl, who had reported her missing, accused the police of being insensitive in their investigation. "They were reluctant to register our complaint. Then the police asked us to be content with the fact she was at least found alive," the father of the girl said. (s)
Just do not know what is happening in the country. especially the capital. The whole of yesterday, all the news channels were relayed to this issue. I must say that the media too at times can be a bit heartless. It was surprising to actually watch that one news channel crew was following the ambulance with a camera and it was being telecast live. Today morning's update by the doctor mentioned that this little girl's condition is stable and the infection is being treated with antbiotics. However at a later stage she will have to undergo a corrective surgery. These gruemsom criminals should be punished at once. If there is a death penalty, give it to them at once inspead of letting the cases pending in courts for months and years.
Is he a human or animal. Even animals won't do such a criminal act. Very sorry for the girl. She would have undergone pain and stress. She don't know what is happening to her. Before sending girls to school we much teach them self defense. He should be cruelly punished in public. The girl should get well soon and mentally out of trauma
I agree with you gurbani, this guy should be given death penalty then only some strong message will go, else they know case will go on and they will get 5 or 7 years jail. Few days back only I was reading in the paper about another girl who was raped by a laborer in Chandigarh. The girl was ten years old and the guy who raped her was sentences to just five year s and ten thousand rupees, can you believe , this the justice in our country! That girl damini who died her case , which is suppose to be fast track is going on and its been four months, and I'm sure the rapists will get away with mild sentence. I don't know what happening , are these men or beast? This guy allegedly put candle and one bottle in her vagina and mutilated her, doctors may be able to correct her physical injuries but what about the mental agony and the injuries on her soul! God knows how will she come out of this trauma.
The girl was abducted and kept hostage for two days without food and water in a room in which the attacker lived, on the ground floor of the building in east Delhi's Gandhi Nagar, in which the victim's family also stayed. The girl, who was raped repeatedly, was rescued when members of her family heard her screams on Wednesday evening, police said. It is disgusting and gross act. Victim stable, say doctors Doctors attending to the victim at the AIIMS said the girl's condition was stable. She was shifted to AIIMS last evening. Lets pray for the child's fast recovery. before teaching our girls self defence, i think it is very important to teach our sons, how to respect women, hence the need to learn self defence will never arise
Don't know what's happening in our country. How could some one do this to a 5 year old? That little girl was just paying outside her home. I feel the police who enquired about this are also to be blamed. This little girl was in the same building and they could have easily found out.
