    Breakfast
    can help prevent strokes, heart attack and sudden death. Advice on not to skip breakfast!

    For those who always skip breakfast, you should stop that habit now! You've heard many times that "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day." Now, recent research confirms that one of the worst practices you can develop may be avoiding breakfast.

    Because the frequency of heart attack, sudden death, and stroke peaks between 6: 00a.m. and noon, with the highest incidence being
    between 8: 00a.m. and 10:00a.m.What mechanism within the body could account for this significant jump in sudden death in the early
    morning hours?

    We may have an Answer.



    Platelet, tiny elements in the blood that keep us from bleeding to Death if we get a cut, can clump together inside our arteries due to
    cholesterol or laque buildup in the artery lining. It is in the morning hours that platelets become the most activated and tend to form these internal blood clots at the greatest frequency.

    However, eating even a very light breakfast prevents the morning platelet activation that is associated with heart attacks and strokes. Studies performed at Memorial University in St.Johns, Newfoundland found that eating a light, very low-fat breakfast was critical in modifying the morning platelet activation. Subjects in the study consumed either low-fat or fat-free yogurt, orange juice, fruit, and a source of protein coming from yogurt or fat-free milk. So if you skip breakfast, it's important that you change this practice immediately in light of this research. Develop a simple plan to eat cereal, such as oatmeal or Bran Flakes, along with six ounces of grape juice or orange juice, and perhaps a piece of fruit. This simple plan will keep your platelets from sticking together, keep blood clots from forming, and perhaps head off a potential Heart Attack or stroke. So never ever skip breakfast

    Dear Suravee,

    That is a nice post. Thanks for sharing with us. I always believe in it.

    Sometime I had the habit of not eating breakfast. By evening I used to get very tired, even if I had a heavy lunch.

    When someone told me about this I tookbreakfast for a week just to check it up. The tiredness or fatigue didn't show up afterwards. I have never got out of the habit after that. I always have my breakfast in the morning regularly.

    Haven't you heard about the proverb ,"breakfast Like a king".

    Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, as it gives you the fuel to begin your daily activities. But its also the most skipped meal of the day as most of the times we are so rushed in the morning that we just say 'forget it, there is no time '. Here are a couple of very simple breakfasts that tke almost no time to prepare.

    1. Omelettes with egg beaters. You need not break an egg too. Just pour from the packet and cook. Its healthy too and it has no cholesterol at all. It tasty too.
    Make it more filling by putting beteen 2 slices of whole wheat toast. :)

    2. Boiled sprouts mixed with some greens ,cucumber, tomato , lemon juice, coriander. No time for that ? Just mix sprouts with some salsa that contains all that.

    3. Yellow moong dosa. No need to soak overnite, then let it ferment and all the longdrawn process. Soak it for 1.5 - 2hrs in warm water. Grind with some cumin seeds, ginger, coriander and salt. Mix the dosa the usual way. If you want you can add chopped onoins etc to the dosa.

    PS - you can soak, remove from water once done and keep in the fridge at nite. Grind them next morning and dig in.

    4. Many store bought breakfast ideas like readymade organic pancake batter. Pour and pancake is ready in minutes. Comes in an easy bottle with a pouring nozzle, no cleanup required.

    Hey, these are just pointers. You can improvise any way you want. Not a good idea to skip breakfast though.
