HMA...I liked Roark, just that, he was way to ego-centric. I mean, as a role model I adore him..like a boss whom you look up to. But as a lover boy? Nah, I wouldnt stand him as a boyfriend :)

If you want to start Rain series, start with his first book. I promise you, you wont be disappointed.

Actually it is a tough one however, I would say the one and only Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mocking Bird. I am not a huge fiction fan but this is my all-time favorite fiction book. When I tell my husband about it, he says that it is a "high pressure" job. One of my professors gifted me the book and it did have a huge impact on me.

The other fictional character I have a huge crush on is Stephen Kovalski - a young Polish priest from The City of Joy. I love The City of Joy, I have read it numerous times especially when I am feeling very low and the book has always given me hope. I recently gifted the book to an American friend and she enjoyed it as well. So now I am looking for a new copy.

    Atticus? For his integrity Arch?

The city of Joy is about Mother Theresa right?

Atticus - Yes! For his strong conviction, empathy and values and putting everything at stake for the larger good! I really wish he existed in real life, sigh!

The city of Joy touches upon Mother Theresa but it is more about this Polish priest who comes to live in Anand Nagar, a slum in Calcutta, and how he discovers the true joy that the poorest of the poor live in. It does make references to Mother Theresa. The author Dominque Lapierre, is a French guy who was inspired to write the book after living in a slum in Calcutta.

How about Rhett Butler? I agree he is controversial for his times, but I do love his boldness. When I read Gone with the Wind, I fell in love with him.

Also, our own dark man Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights. He is a very good contender for Romance!!

Its been ages since I read it Arch; I guess I should read this again. I do remember this book touching me a lot though.

Oh ya..Shiva is a close second to John Rain! thanks for reminding me :)
Not sure about Butler but I did like Heathcliff. The younger one is the one we are talking about right? or the older one?

Yes, the younger version Rakhii. The older one becomes all too cynical and a turn off.
