    Hi DaVinci

The proportion that I use is 1 cup rice : 1/4 cup urad daal with little methi seeds. I use Lulu Idly rice with Royal Green Urad. You will have to keep the soaked rice and urad in fridge so that it doesnt gets heated. also use chill water for grinding. But whatever tricks you use in mixie it doesnt yields soft idlies like that of idlies got from grinder batter . Lulu has many varieties of table top grinders. I got preethi grinder from there only. hope this helps...

You are right ..the ratio of urad-rice was a little off..amount of urad was more. I tried with the proportions you've mentioned & there was a definite improvement :) YAY !
I usually soak it during mid day, grind it late in the evening & let it ferment overnight. Thanks again :)

    Hey Asha_ram,

I have started using chilled water to grind in the mixie. But I want to get a grinder now. I've noticed Preethi & Ultra grinders in Lulu...according to reviews both of them are equally good..so confused now ! thinkingsmiley
