Hi - my 5 year old son is not able to identify the bigger of 2 numbers. for eg., if i ask him which is bigger of 2 and 7, he says 2. Even the school teacher is not able to make him understand the concept. Please suggest a few techniques.
Do you mean he cannot determine which is larger by looking at the number written on paper? Or he cannot recognize that 7 candies are more than 2 candies, if you have 7 candies in a line next to or above 2 candies? If it's simply number recognition, I would not worry to much yet, as he may be seeing it as the number 2 when written LOOKS larger than a number 7. Even on memory cards, the number 2 is more robust looking than a number 7...
Sirisha Take a few blocks keep 7 blocks on one side and 2 on the other. Then ask him which side has more number of blocks. Once he understands what you mean by "bigger" number then he will be able to identify them too.
Thanks. This works for one time. When I change the numbers to, say, 3 and 9, its the same problem again.
