I want to start small business from home - need ideas

I just joined IL and saw this post of yours... I have been looking at and shortlisting some ideas for work from home... I am currently in a job but the timings keep changing, the pay just makes it sustainable and I have a 3 yr old son with whom i so want to spend some time with as these are the "foundation" years and he deserved to have me around when he needs me. I do have a loan which i repay with EMIs as well, so I need to be 100% sure that whatever i choose to do does bring in money from the 1st month to keep it going, if profits come a couple of months later, thats fine!

The answers relevant for me (for the questions in ur post) are as below:

1) What are your passions and interests? - To be an entrepreneur, love interacting with people (was an HR professional for 3.5 yrs, currently a Communications Specialist), love writing, training, creative stuff
2) What is your education, experience and skillset? - Environmental Engr with PG in Environmental Law, total abt 6-7 yrs exp, 1.5 yrs in environment, 3.5 in HR, 1.5 yrs in business communications, freelance writing. Enjoyed training during my stint as HR.
3) What type of needs you personally have that you felt "Why is there no business in this?" - Time and support for new mums who have no family around post-pregnancy, personal coaching and self-improvement training (life coaching)
4) Are there any needs that go unmet by a business in the area where you work and live? - Life Coaching at reasonable rates, support group for single mums/parents
5) Are there any products or suppliers that you have specialized access? - No
6) What are your constraints (money, mobility, time, family etc) that can put limits on what types of business you could do? - Money mainly, everything else i can work out!

Can you suggest / share some ideas of starting or growing a business .
Curretntly I am trading Fashion items ( Bags / Batwas & Sarees ) - sale from home & FB . FB is not helping me much . I also do exhibitions but found that the stall cost itself is not covered so end up losing instead of gaining .
I am also doing a job right now in Finance - I cannot quit -since same like brreze I too have a loan repayment so need a monthly income to keep my family stable - but my passion is for something creative and my monotonus job and Travel required for the job leaving my son behind leaves me home sick .

1.Teaching. This is the job that requires very minimum investment. Depending on what you know, what you are good at you can
-Teach regular subjects to kids in your area
-Teach Maths/Science/computer science subjects to older kids
-Teach hobbies, crafts to kids and adults, run summer camps for these too

2.Clothing - but there are just too many people doing this kind of business. I really do not know how much profit they make

3.Tailoring - There is always demand for this, especially if you have a good hand at designing. You can employ some staff too.

Depending on each person's taste and their talent we can make the choice of business. However, its essential that we stay dedicated to it. Most of us cannot afford to stop our current job and venture into business. But for women who arent current earning, they can really put their best foot forward and all money they make is good gain and it would give them the confidence to move forward.
