    Hi,aanandchitra,
Thanx 4 giving me relief, i too have gone through the same. You did the right thing dear, afterall nothing is more important than our family. Sometimes i was thought that i m not doing much in my life other than cooking n all other household stuff, but when i see the smile on my children n husband's face after having new dishes my regret fade.
    Love,
    Dipti

    Dear AC,
Two days back I went to my younger daughter's school with all kinds of spices marks on my salwars and then to top it all was the food marks form her lil mouth form the morning , plus the mud that had been smeared by either one. My dupatta helps clean tables, comforter for dolls, wipe mouths.
Not to forget that I love it. The time I spend with them is qautlity time, I make sure of that, It invoves doing what they enjoy the most.
    GREAT THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Chitra,

Again a thought provoking thread. You have a very good narrating skill. keep it up.
As you and everybody said at end of the day it is the quality time we spend with our dear ones that matters.

I also list things. Ofcourse it will only be list and not actions in most of the cases. It started from childhood putting time table when the exam nears and later on the day before the exam thinking that atleast if i followed half i listed in my time table i could have been very much relaxed now

    But i still list things:confused: .
It will be a list of things that is very important which i will forget otherwise.

    Ladies,
thanks to all who spilled your thoughts and amde my day. Nice to knwow I am not alone. But even when I enjoy my kids and their activities, spending/listending to hubby's finance-politics-and other speech (I call it speech because though I am physically present mentally totally absent, as these do not get into my head, just knodding and smiling without any particiapation). Even though I do all these, at the back of my mind, I will be constantly thinking of house-cleaning. Not so much in action, because my husband just like Mr. Vysan doesn't want to make the house a museum.
So these days, I have decided to take a break for atleast 1-2 days from work, just for myself and the things I want to do. I don't pack even lunches for them, I do manicure and hair care and everything one day and add alittle bit shopping for the house, decorate it. check my gardents etc. You won't beleive the amount of satisfaction I get doing that. Not guilty that I am not spending time with them at all because husband is at work, and child is at school, all the time for myself without guilt . Try it ladies, you will feel rejuvenated.

If your home, it does not mean, you have to clean to cook and cooked so clean the whole day. Do soemthing for yourself. You deserve it afterall. Put yourself on the list, only you just one day. It works... beleive me.

    P.S.
AC may be choose a Friday for yourself, dress up, go to temple and see. May be those ladies did that. right??

    Hi Veda
Its interesting to see ur point of view. When my son as small
we lived with used furniture and ignored comments from guests
that its time to change it. Mainly because he loved jumping on
it above it and every which way and we let him be. we only
recently bought new sofa and he still does it sometimes. you are
so very right when you say kids can mess up the house only
    when they are kids!

    Dear Chithra
Please never call yourself a misfit. it makes me sad. i know that all
here would love to hear from you and share thoughts.I am glad that you wrote about being organised and to bring it up with children. You will be surprised
my son has always been that way and trust me i cannot take credit. I think
he has taken after my late fatherin law who was meticulous in being organised.
Also its a good tip about the stickon the fridge. you're following me around with tips hoping against hope that somehow or other i will get better :rotfl . just kidding.!!

    Dear Dipti
Welcome to our group of IL. Its always nice to see new people coming
and taking part in discussions. I am also fairly new but i can extend a
warm greeting to you. Never think that you are not doing much in life other
than cooking etc. recently in the news they were discussing a shuttle launch
takeoff and it was postponed because of a minor glitch like a repair of
a very insignificant part. But still they could not takeoff and had to complete the repair. however small we are we play an important role in our life and our
family and never consider it insignificant. just my 2 cents here. :tongue

    Dear Janani
I cannot imagine there is one like me out there. Yes my dupatta helps clean mouths, nose???? OMG. when i first wrote this i was sure no one would read what i thought was a silly and dumb account. But its kind of you to share so we can take comfort in each other. Next time when i go out with a harried
look on my face I'll focus on all the wonderful things I did do and not worry about the rest.

    Dear Chitra,

That was a good one! I like the topics u write abt & the discussions that result from it, make interesting read.

Here, i have to agree with the other Chithra (Chitvish)! Whatever she wrote were things my mom insisted upon from the time we were kids. She's very organised & she instilled that in us at a very young age. Keeping everything in order is what i inbibed & that's the only way i know, right from childhood.

Now, when i see my husband & how disorganised he is, i thank my mom a million times!! I've been trying for the past 1 & 1/2 yrs to make him organised & bring discipline in his daily life, but haven't succeeded yet. Still, i keep trying!!

Making lists is also something i learnt from my mom & i follow even today. I make to-do lists, grocery lists, etc & stick them on the fridge. If i need my husband to do errands for the house, i e-mail to-do lists to him too, he's so forgetful!!

    Regards,
    Ragini.
