They say God works in mysterious ways. Yes, this couldn’t be more true.

I am at a point in life where everything is crumbling in around me. Honestly at times it feels like all the pending karma from all the past births are catching up with me now. I sort an issues, take a breath and there comes another thing I need to deal with, sort and get to the bottom and root it out without losing my head, calm, and myself.

Lately I have started connecting dots as well and I can literally see a pattern of things happening. And while analysing the the pattern I found something truly astonishing.

All these years, say precisely 14 years, I always felt my dad left me and my family in a lurch. It was hard for us to get by, but me, my mom, and my sis - we stood strong, sailed through it and here we are living, and fighting without giving in an inch. I thought it was all because of our strength, persistence, and hard work. Yes, of course, those are undeniable but beyond it, I failed to see how my god was there with me every step of the way I was taking. I mean was so caught up in my problems that I just missed the beautiful solution that just kept coming up right out of nowhere and sorted all the issues I had. The hitches that came up always melted away without a trace. And all through this, every step of the way, walking with me was my god

To give a gist of what happened recently – I had my gold in a private bank and took a loan on it. I am a coborrower of another loan taken under my husband’s name from the same bank. Though I have been consistently paying my loan, due to some issues with my husband’s loan, the bank erroneously tagged my husband’s loan as NPA. And through that, my gold loan became an NPA. Well, for all the leading technology that banks have these days, let me tell you, their methods are useless, and their update system is just hovering over obsolete.

Anyway, I had absolutely no knowledge of this issue. Nor my husband since from our end, we were not informed that our loan was tagged as NPA erroneously. There was no email communication, nor was phone call made from their end regarding this. We assumed that things were fine.

And then I received this call from this person whose name I didn’t know until yesterday. He told me that my gold loan was tagged as NPA. He could see that I have been making payments consistently but due to some issue with my husband’s loan being tagged as NPA, mine got tagged as well since I was a coborrower. So, I /we immediately reached out to the bank to correct it, but the bank informed my husband that they would ‘verify it’ and update the records in 72 hours. We thought that our disaster was averted, and I called this person back and told him that it was sorted but for some reason this person was not convinced. He kept telling me that the situation was serious than I could imagine and asked me to remove my gold immediately. Now, to repay all the loan at one go in the middle of the month and in the present scenario that I am in, is just impossible and I told him so. He then suggested that I go to another lending agency, submit my loan letter given by this bank, ask them to take over the loan. They would do so without any issue.

I heard him but still had my doubts, but he was just relentless, he kept calling me again and again and convinced me to do this immediately. I initially wanted to do this in two days’ time, but he didn’t agree. I ended up taking permission from my office, went to the bank to initiate this process and to my surprise, within 4 hours, my loan was transferred to another bank. But for some reason I was still apprehensive about this entire deal. Why did I have to shift?

As I reached home yesterday, I got a letter from the private bank that I had my gold loan with saying that they were proceeding to auction my gold off since the other loan was tagged as NPA. And that I can’t withdraw my gold also from the bank from the next day onwards without closing all the loans we hold at the bank. I was stunned to see the letter.

My gold is worth 10x the loan we took from the bank, and the loan was erroneously tagged as NPA for no fault of ours. But nothing mattered to the bank. In the end, all I could think of was how one unknown person from this bank was helping me out throughout this ordeal.

Had he not forced me to do what I did; I might have not been able to recover my gold at all.

To me he is God. Someone who had no idea about me but tried his level best to help me! I don’t know how to repay him except maybe pass on this deed of kindness to someone else!

Glad to know God was on your side when u were distressed, in the form of another human being close to spot where it was essential. You must prepare kheer and offer to your tutelary deity in your native village and offer sweets to that samaritan in the bank for timely succor.
The presence of Almighty in our lives felt more intense when we pass through more difficult time and His helping presence or hand though invisible .
I had few such narrow escapes thanks to Almighty.
I had narrated many and one such in link:
Tight Schedule- Spouse, Rat & 'craft
BTW if one's declared NPA, he or she would be marked as negative credit worthiness for future loans. I therefore suggest you consider sueing the bank for wrong declaration and get the declaration nullified or rescinded.

It is indeed happening frequently with banks in India.
For third party cheque deposited when bounced, the depositor is penalised by a debit of Rs 295 in PSU Bank.
Bank issued and posted a cheque for balance amount in savings a/c intimating they had closed the account. Months after this, another arm of the same private bank expedites by a speed post message to complete e-Kyc to avoid future transactions stopped. Funny rules and messages.

First of all, good that you were able to save your gold.

"And then I received this call from this person whose name I didn’t know until yesterday."
After reading this, if I were you, I would not listen to a stranger. These days, there are lots of scams. The best course is to contact the higher authorities in the bank and resolve the issue.
That said, keep believing in God.

    @beautifullife30,

I am glad you transferred the loan to another bank to save your gold and someone helped you by calling you multiple times. Frankly, you are blessed by God and lucky not to lose the gold.

Frankly, Regulatory guidelines suggest the loans to be grouped Borrower-wise, not facility-wise classification, meaning, if one loan where you are co-borrower, the bank has a right to club it with another loan and take whatever action the bank would like to take to get the loans repaid. In your case, you are a single borrower in case of gold loan and that classifcation will not be separated from a loan your husband took and you were a coborrower.

As a co-borrower, you are equally and fully responsible for repaying the jointly-held loan, not just the primary borrower. A default on that loan is considered a default on your part as well. The bank has a unique right to proceed to recover individual assets held for another loan and even have a right to proceed to go after your other assets not held by the institution as well. In my view, you are still at risk because of you cosigning that loan and the bank can come after your other assets. Good part is since you have pawned your jewels for a loan with a new bank, they are the preferred institution to recover the loan first. If I were you, I would keep the loan payments made regularly but not paid in full to the new bank as it would a great security for your jewels.

Generally, there will be a cross-default clause that states that a default of one loan with the bank constitutes an event of default on any other loans you have with the same bank. It is not accidental NPA classification and it is a rightful NPA classification within the Banking Regulation Guidelines.

Let God be with you always.
