If it's commutable better to be in the office. It will help you interact with more people, if you are lucky then new contacts, friends etc.

Having a job is much more than money, it increase your confidence and eventually help you to grow as a person.

In fact, you can be a role model to my H who is sailing in the same boat as you are.
He doesn't like to go to work, but enjoys staying at home and pursuing his hobbies. He worked a decade back, but with this long gap and all it has been difficult for him to work again.
He is highly educated and skilled. But he doesn't have the drive and energy to go to work.

But as they say, the grass is always greener the other side. So, he loves to work, and always try hard to secure one.
As a man, he feels ashamed to stay at home. Rather than him, the society pressurizes him to go to work.
They think he is unworthy and he is a dependent even though no one at home thinks so.
There is absolutely no demand from us for him to work. But he is confused and always wanted to prove himself to others.

Each time, after a great effort he manages to secure a job. He likes that job so much and be so proud about it. As time flies, he starts missing his times and flexibility at home. He takes leave and loses focus at office front.
He picks up a fight, or expects a promotion quickly and there has never been a consistent attempt to prove himself at work.
He sucks with time, and by the end of the first year he would either resign or get fired.
Then this jobless saga goes on and on for years until he secures another one and the cycle repeats.
