I just cannot understand the sentence "looking for new friends"

I am writing on a topic that is lingering in my mind for 1.5 years. Yes, I am living in the U.S. of A for the past 1.5 years - married and am on H4 visa. Since I saw a new post recently in IL with the same topic I thought this is the best time to write on this topic. Will update soon

Dear Dhivya,

I will agree to your point to a major extent. Your view about making friends is right. But what I feel about the people who approach in other countries in making friends is "we are leaving all our family and going to a remote place where we doesn't know anyone... and it is obvious when we see people from our place, we tend to stick to them..."

May be their way of approach is different. Anyways some thing made me to think...
