hpt Doubt--Urgenthelp needed please

My friend was supposed to get her periods on Friday but she missed it ...she just did her HPT on sunday and it seemed like she got a positive sign...in the morning...

She again checked in the evening then also she got a positive sign. She is nervous and anxious. Should she go to gyn immediately. I read in another post that she can wait for week. But she seems rather impatient.

Question
1)[FONT=&quot] [/FONT]If she goes to a doc and they take a blood test , how soon will they confirm pregnancy
2)[FONT=&quot] [/FONT]And if they can she tell her parents
3)[FONT=&quot] [/FONT]And how many weeks will she be pregnant, or how do you calculate that.
I felt bad I did not have any experience to help her but …

Congratulations to your friend on her pregnancy.
If she is confident that she had checked it correctly, then she can consult a gynic for next steps to take to progress with pregnancy.
1.To confirm the pregnancy, no need of blood test, just a urine sample is enough. within few mins they will confirm the pregnancy.
2.Yes, she can tell her parents immediately
3. If pregnancy is confirmed, the input for the gestation period calculation is from first day of (LMP)last menstrual period. So your friend can calculate in which week she is in.

mitsviki,so lucky of your friend to have u as her friend u r so caring thats really good about u,well the hpt kits r 99.9%accurate,congratulations to your friend on being pregnant,and incase if she still has doubt she needs to visit the dr once even to confirm her pregnancy and start with follic acid and other medicines.all the best and take care.

I shall inform her...

it is so funny she has been emailing me from morning....she is nervous and excited.

she has been shooting question left and right...wish i was a doc at this point i can answer her..hahahah

question
1) she had tea in the morning and by mistake i asked her if she can haev tea...she got paranoid...Can she have tea?
2) she is asking as to what is normal time people wait be fore they tell people ..like 4 weeks or 6 weeks...etc etc...( Duh !1 So sentimental ) but as much as i have known her she is very sentimental...

she said she will goto the doc tomorrow...

but can some one help with the above doubts...

also she had LMP start date on march 20 in that case is she 4 weeks pregnant??

What a good friend you are, really good of you to find information for her.
Yes, she can have tea and coffee, but I was asked to limit it to 2 cups per day, one if I can live with it. Man, did I have caffeine withdrawal going from 6 cups of chai to just one coffee :hide:.
Here is a link to due date calculator, have fun. About other pregnancy related info, I found the Mayo Clinic site very helpful, especially in the first few months. I am also told "what to expect when you expect" is a good book.
I would suggest waiting till at least 3 months pregnant before announcing to more than just immediate family. With immediate family, it helps because she may go through huge mood swings in the first trimester and the sickness, good to have family's support then!

Since her HPT was positive ,she can call her doctor and inform this ,they will schedule an appointment to have her first ultrasound taken to confirm everything is normal.

most doctors rely on HPT,so i think you don't need to take blood test again

2)And if they can she tell her parents
She can tell her parents,but for others she can wait until first trisemester is crossed

3)And how many weeks will she be pregnant, or how do you calculate that.
She can visit some websites like babycenter.com,webmd.com where in she has to give her last menstrual date to calculate her due date.

4.Coffee/Tea is ok as long as the intake is not too much.A glass or 2 glass a day is fine.

from the time you give the blood test.How long do they take to give the results....if she is approx 4 weeks will the results come positive in the blood test.

some more question

Is there a way to sleep on some particular side.
She live with her husband in the US AND SHE does all house chores..can she do them

Hi mitsviki

i feel it is better she sees a gyanae as soon as possible, they will usually do an ultra sound to confirm the pregnancy.

She can do the household work there is no problem in that unless she has some kind of complications and she has to take rest.

Let your friend subscribe to babycenter and they can send her weekly emails with all the udpates.
