I store them by removing the stem and in a ziploc bag. But they go bad soon. Any ideas that work for you, please share
just wrap them in a paper towel or a news paper then store them in a plastic box or zip loc. otherwise, just buy those small brown color paper lunch bag and put them in refrigerator. you can store all vegetables in paper bags.
I just store them without taking out the stems and in the same polythene cover which I bring it from the shop and it is good for two weeks and not even one is spoiled.May be your fridge cooling is too high.
My advice is a combo of pinkpeals and liveandletlive: Do not take off the stems - thats helps contain the spoilage to the stem area, leaving the fruit unpoilt. The paper towels (use recycled) absorbs any moisture present and therefore helps increase fridge life. You will need to change the paper towels every 3-4 days. I keep my chillies in the freezer and use it for cooking. If you need to serve them raw then don't freeze them.
first remove the stems then take a box even simple yogurt containers will do. put paper towel inside the container such that it covers the entire inner surface. put the chillies and close the lid. this way they store well easily for 3 weeks. while sorting itself keep aside slightly rotten or broken chillies. at any point of time if u feel that they r getting spoiled take out the chilles, remove rotten ones, cange the paper towel and put them back hope this helps good luck
You are right , my fridge cooling is too high. The reason I have to do is, the door has some misalignment and so the milk goes bad soon. Rented house, cant do anything, landlord not very enthusiastic about it. So to compensate I keep the cooling high
Thank you DNM. Freezing idea seems good. Do you just store them in the same cover from the shop or do you transfer to ziploc covers?
