how to save for college.......

    i have two kids aged 10 and 5. i'm wondering whether to open a 529 a/c to save for college? are there any people who are doing it already? i'm clueless about this? help me decide if anybody who knows information on this? are there any other means for college fees?

    Hi Shamohan,

    I too have a daughter who is going to enter college soon. I do not have details about the 529 a/c. But this is what I have been doing for the past one year. We have opened a Kids account for my daughter and transfer a certain amount every month. Once it hits a sizable amount, we put it in Fixed Deposit both short term and long term ones.

    Hope this is useful to you and let us see if others get to share their ideas.
