    Hi Lakshmi,

Cotton sarees or dresses looks very elegant and nice. Though its very difficult to maintain.

One method which i follow is Prepare a gruel or kanji from Sago or jawarisi powder and dilute it with cold water . And finally add the sarees or dress materila and soak it for 5- 10 min in it. finally just try to remove the excess water and hanging it out on a shady area .

This gives me a very good crispy feeling to my sarees as well as dress.

    cheers

u can make kanji/starch with just plain flour i.e. maida
    to prepare maida kanji
mix one cup of maida in 1 litre of cold water with out lumps and keep asode
boil 2 litres of water and while boilind add the maida mixture and stirr well an d bring to boil. cool it and add enough cold water and starch the sarees.
if u spin the starched sarees in washing machine the excess starch will be gone and it wil be easy to iron also
