My lo is going to be 8 months soon. Till now i gave him Fruits- apple- red n green, banana, pear, papaya Veggi- carrot (vomited so stopped) , potato, sweet potato Porridge- oats powder, rawa, rice n moongdal mashed Gerber stage 2 and heinz veg cheesy pasta. I also add ghee, jeera powder or hing or Ajwain powder to his food. I want to add more veggies to his list. Is it required to introduce each veggie separately to look for allergy even now or can i just add them to his kichdi directly. 4 day rule should be followed till what age? How to give garlic, onion, n ginger to baby? Will it cause heat for baby as it is summer now? What else combination food can i give him and how?
It is better to follow 3-4 day rule. For combination goods give rice + veggies, porridge + fruits. Initially I added grated ginger / garlic while making rice. You are going to be using very minimal quantity. So chances of body heat due to this would be less.
Doctors generally advise to follow our routines to baby... so that its important to include all those foods which are a part of our family diet.
If you are introducing anything new, ensure you give it separately to see if it triggers any allergies. For all the vegetables, grains and pulses you have already tried, you can combine them and give. When my DD was around 8 months, I used to add a dash of jeera powder, turmeric powder to her mixed veg kichdi. You can add sauteed garlic or onions (finely chopped) and see if your LO likes it. My ped asked me to be a little careful about hing (asafoetida) since chances of allergy trigger are slightly high.
Thanks all for the replies i have started giving veggies in his rice. He likes it a lot now. Adding friut or veggie purees in his rawaporridge. Not tried other spices. Now that he is 9 months, will start slowly
