How to get rid of stale(sakku moottai like - in tamil) from rice?

    I bought a 20lb bag of rice from the Indian store here and it smells stale like saakku moottai...any advice to get rid of the smell?

    Is the rice in Saaku mootai or in polyester bag? If its in Saaku mootai, you could try keeping the rice spread out in open air on the table. Else roast it on a low flame. I am assuming its only the saaku mootai smell and nothing else.

    Thanks for the responses. The store I got it from makes a big deal..so I don't think I can return it..And it didn't come in a saakku Moottai...the regular polyester bag..I will try the open air dry and dry roast..thanks again!
