I'm not sure if i've posted this in the right forum...Actually I have extremely oily skin so have pimples since teenage..and after becoming an adult also the acne has only increased..Have pimples all over my face and marks also..I have tried several treatments/creams but nothing has helped..My doctor says- " don't be conscious about your pimples, they will eventually clear up"...but how can I not be conscious.. I get really irritated when people comment on my pimples....If my immediate family members/close friend ask about my skin, I know it's out of concern..but I get damn irritated when some third persons remark about my acne...For example, neighbors, classmates, friends of friends, colleagues, batchmates, distant relatives, relatives of my in-laws etc...Mostly people who have clear skin only will ask questions like "Oh, what happened to your face?" and" have n't you tried so-and-so cream?" and "what is that allergy on your face" and "why do you have so many pimples on your face?" etc...They usually ask questions with a very smug attitude..This really irritates me, affects my self confidence and it seriously spoils my mood whenever I attend any social occasion...I keep thinking- what wrong have I done to get such problem..when it's quite obvious that it's acne why to comment..and why the hell is their skin so clear..etc..my husband knows this..so he doesnt comment much about my skin...but I'm irritated with all these jobless people who pass comments on cosmetic/medical problems of other people..Even recently i went for coffee with some of my batchmates in college..in that group there were also a few people I dint know..1 of my batchmates remarked "oh, are you not taking treatment for your pimples?they have increased.." and 1 more person also asked some similar question...and all were staring.. I was so pissed I just said "don't you all have better things to discuss?" and walked out..Please advice me how do I deal with such situations from now on? Please don't mind the long post, i was just venting out..Has anyone else faced such prob..

    Hi friend,

I can totally understand your position. Two cents from my side:

Treatment : Please try Neutrogena face wash for oily skin if you havent tried before, it is dermatologist recommended and very effective.

Attitude: Just ignore the question or answer lightly saying"Yeah it doesnt bother me at all"

Dressing: Focus more on your hair style, let some hair/fringes cover forehead/cheeks, put heavy kajal to eyes, apply good quality foundation to even out pimples to some extent.

    Hope this helps

This can be very difficult to deal with. As your doc said, yes eventually the pimples will clear up. As a teenager, I too had a face full of pimples and scars and I used to worry myself. But I just do not know how my skin just turned clear.

So, don't worry and nature does take its own course to cure some things.

As Anupamag suggested, I am also a die-hard Neutrogena for oily skin face wash user. At no cost, can I settle for something else.
Do try that as it contains salicylic acid and should be effective. Use good old Lacto Calamine after bath everyday.

Me too want to share my views

I really had a clear face till twenties, but all of sudden after marriage, my skin behave so weirdly, and that went out of my hands. My dh take to Doc and i told everything to him liks my diet and my pills intake (which is the culprit here)
He suggested me some anti biotics and Cetaphil cleanser. Works fine on my face, but only after three months, i've noticed the changes in skin.
So my suggestion, be positive as stress only makes things worse. Ignore the negative comments and take it as a challenge to achieve healthy skin.
Last thing , time and patience are the things to over come this problem

take it cool - always think they are asking you with genuine concern on you (even if is not) - for
    1) you can't prevent those who make comments
    2) giving it back to them might satisfy your anger for that moment but will make you concentrate more on it and keep hurting you.

If someone ask, give a simple smile, ignore to give importance and move away or divert - message will be clear for not only that person, even those who just watch for now.

I have already used Neutrogena..It removed excess oil from my skin, but I din't notice any improvement in acne after using it..So currently using Himalaya neem face wash and clean & clear facewash, apart from a couple of herbal face packs and standard ointments and multivitamin tablets prescribed by the doc..Since Neutrogena seems to have worked for some of you, I'll give it another chance...I think the summer season has made my acne worse :(..Also I have many social occasions coming up shortly where I will have to meet friends and relatives..Hope it subsides atleast a little bit by then...bcos I don't like applying heavy makeup like concealer to cover it up as I think it can clog the pores... Maybe I have to become a little thick skinned and not get irritated by comments of other people...:hide:

Dont worry.Just tell me that you are working on that and it will take time.
As post #2 ,try to concentrate more on your dressing, hairstyle accessories, highlight your eyes lips.

I use cinnamon powder+honey over my pimples, and it will vanish in no time.It worked best for me you can try its all natural and homemade remedy.Hugs

    OP,

How about ' Mind your own business!'?

    2. I have a distant relative with a similar story, doc kept saying it is pimples n u will outgrow but didnt happen. It was allergy, dust allergy or some food allergy, I dont remember exactly and it cleared up fully after she moved to a different country. So take a second opinion and get all the tests done. A lot of docs superficially diagnose. One thing I have heard is if it is pimples they will increase and decrease with your period cycle. More will appear at one time of the month and more will disappear at a different time. If the pimples are there all the time and getting worse it could be an allergy misdiagnosed.
