So people living in joint family are supposed to live like they do in work environment? They do not get to have a home where they can unwind after a hard day at work?

+1...How can a mother ,living in her own house, amongst her own people ,same surrounding be insecure of the dil.....
The dil leaves her house, enters the new house with the knowledge that in laws in general will traditionally not welcome her with open arms, knows she will have to work hard for years to please people...and in return get that coveted love of the man(who was supposed to give it anyways)........but Madam Mother in law is the one who is insecure.Just defies logic.

It is one of those excuses that is used to justify the traditional bitter experience that the dil has to go through......along with the others like....

The mil is insecure because of the presence of a new person in son's life......this is the mother of all excuses to justify any illogical, mad behavior that she can throw up.I wonder why the bride's father doesn't become insecure of losing his daughter to the new man in her life....

A man who loves his mother too much will respect the wife too.....An excuse that can justify all kinds of neglect, and rejection of the wife. She better tolerate his over indulgence of the mother at her expense because it means some day he will respect her. The biggest piece of BS ever.

A son has to put his mother first for the nine months she carried him and the sacrifices she made in raising him...Just don't get me started on this one....:spin:spin
