    Minu, I guess u r wrong...u def dont need an SSN to apply for your EAD when applying on L2.

    this is radhika i applied for EAD on aug 10th.i gave my biometrics.i didnt send supported docs .is it necessary,one of my friend told me that they will send mail then u send like that.what i have to do.its crossing 80 days .when i checking the status it tells like "case received and pending".what i have to do.

    Hi,

    If you have a receipt number, it means that USCIS has accepted your application. Usually if they need more documents they will contact you. Did you file by yourself or a lawyer filed on your behalf? if it is more than 90 days you can call or take a infopass appointment at the local center to inquire about status.

    You can call the call center number and ask them the status. They will tell you how to proceed further .

    Try the infopass appointment from uscis website. If you donot get it for your Zipcode, Try all the options mentioned in the appointment site. And try getting the appointment in late hours .

    ( i did not have any available appointments for my Zip , so the call center lady asked me to try in early morning or midnight . and Bingo ! i got appointment )

    The documents are asked only if you had selected the option "If asked will you be able to present documents for proof ? YEs / No " When u are applying for I 765 form.
    If you said yes, then they will send a letter asking for the list of docs. But if u did not say yes, then the process proceeds to next step.

    When to apply for EAD

    Dear ILs,
    Please let me know when can I apply for EAD? I'm in H4 now. We came to US just a month before.

    Re: When to apply for EAD

    You can apply for EAD only if your green card is in the process or if you are on L2. I dont know any other way by which you can apply for EAD.

    Hi all,

    am on L2 visa status with EAD . working currently.
    When my DH changes to H1 , can i still use my EAD with H4 ?
    FYI , we have not triggered the GC process yet.

    Re: Processing timeframe for EAD

    After getting EAD, then it the approval of 485? You quoted "Then the GC came within 3-4 mnths of applying for same", Is there is seperation application for GC?
