How to apply for cashier or customer service Jobs In USA

    Hai Friends,
    I am new member to this forum :) . I came to USA 3 years back and I was in H4 status till now (very very boring sitting at home),we recently got Green card.Now I want to join as Part time cashier or Customer service representative in stores like Kmart , Jc Penny , Satples or any other stores. Could any of ILs help in starting this process? Do we need any experience to apply for these posts? I am computer graduate in India and didn't work when I was there. After coming here I was on H4 so no chance of working. Will there any chance of getting job without any experience?
    I would like to get suggestions from any of our forum members regarding this.I would also appreciate your help regarding preparing resume also.

    If those stores have openings, you will have kiosks there....where you can apply for the jobs...in store!!! check target...they seem to be hiring now..

    as far as exp is concerned, ..you can always start some where..and move up....no harm in applying n understanding the requirements...

    you can also try to apply for helpdesk or desk side support jobs....take up a teacher training course and join as a teacher...or take some course in nursing or ultra sound technician etc...and there are good jobs there too..

    Vallalucky, you could also apply for some part time teller positions in Banks - checks the Banks' website for job openings!

    Hi Friend ,
    Thanks for reply . Could you please whether these teller jobs require experience or will they give training? I already googled and got some idea but not a complete idea. I searched on one of the website of creditunion and in the application form it is given that they will do complete credit check -What is it?I want to join in any job which fits for me as my mind is getting spoiled with negative feelings if I stay alone all day long . The main thing I am worried about is not having experience .
    I will just wait for the suggestions from other ILs who might be doing some part time jobs

    Hey Lucky, no for teller positions, you don't need experience and yes they do train you. So look up the websites of some major banks in your area, go to their job section and apply. Credit check and drug test will be done - nothing to worry. General routine procedures. Good luck and don't let that mind get you negative!
