Thank you for the reply Ashneys. You are correct. I have to see them as one person. Also, fortunatly or unfortunately he has to live with her.
I don't need him to defend me. But i wish he would just ask me if what she says happened was true or there is another side of the story. I realize that him doing that won't help him in their relationship so i guess he is just happy to either keep quite or take her side. It seems like he does not try to know me outside of what she tells him about me. I have been wanting to talk to him in private for a very long time now but have been stopping myself thinking about what good if anything at all that is going to do. I can just envision him staying silent and nodding his head and walking away to tell her what we spoke about.

Honestly I would not care at all....so long as you have your husband by your side who cares. You're right he's her husband. I'm sure he knows what shes really like. Dont give him power to be a judge in your and your mils relationship. You're lucky hubby is by your side.

It's a good thing, don't fight it. FIL is setting an excellent example for his son to follow: Always believe and support your spouse above all else.

For minor household tiffs , I think it's only natural for your FIL .to support your MIL. They are life partners , feel happy for her that at this stage of life and age , she is having her life partners' full support . It matters a lot at that time of life when there's not much to look forward to .

On other hand , admire him in front of your husband and give his example everytime for your DH to follow .

They both are really one team , you might expect him to give you benefit of doubt in case of some serious matter only .

Anyway don't be concerned what FIL thinks of you vs MIL , just have your husband's support that's all that matters . If you still concern too much to be in FILs good books, your MIL will taunt that you are trying for the inheritance .

Hahah at inheritance but it’s true..,I totally agree plus fil is dependant on mil at this age so don’t expect anything from him. One day in front of him let her babble on and u stay quiet so he can see her true colours .
