My Friend recently seperated from her husband and moved to Newjersey area. She was working as a BI Report developer For 6 Years, then took a break for 1 year. She has started applying for jobs but when she gets call from Consulting companies they quote rates as low as 30 $/hr to some quoting rate 50$/hr.Does any one know what rate she should quote for her work experience.

50 is also less. She can get anywhere between 80 to 100+ per hour. If you already have consultancy experience then you know how to calculate take home after consultant percentage, health care etc. I don't know how it works out.
If they are quoting 50, is that after all the cuts and insurance payments?

As Srikala said, 30 and 50 are very very low. 6 years experience is a big thing and not be rated as 30$ per hour. You can very well quote 100$ per hour and ask her to wait till she gets a god opportunity and not to rush for 30/50 and all.
