How do I thank you God For blessing me with so many Mothers One who gave birth My very own To relieve all my Karmas from my past birth So I will not have anymore rebirths Cradled me, loved me the most For whom I am yet to do my best I don't know whether I will be able to fulfill my wishes But my special prayers, love and wishes are always there for her For her enlightenment and my fulfillment! My beloved Prof. Dr.K.M.Shantha My Head of the Department Of English One who claimed me to be her daughter Who told my mom she is my daughter And my own said : with pleasure I'm willing to share She is not only mine but everybody’s said my mom Oh what great heart, what have I done to own her to be my mom! My professor is no more, she passed away as soon as I was done with my third year She lives in my heart, in the poem she wrote for me and in the name she named me Fluttering like a BUTTERFLY sharing love with everyone! My B.Ed Guide teacher Mrs.Ouma Parvady She wanted me to be her daughter And I did We had fun together roaming the streets, Cooking and cleaning together, Feeding each other, shopping around And she gifted me many tokens of love Till today we are in touch Exchanging calls on special occasions. Yet to meet her in person after two decades! My dear Mother-in-law next in line Treated her with love And gained her heart Not a phone call goes Without each other's concern My four SILs vouch that I'm her daughter and not Dil I'm happy to have attained another Mother in my Mil! Happy go lucky once had to live in US While my turn to become a mom Was showered by God My friend’s mom Smt.Shakunthala Gave me the first baby shower Traditional way, poo chuttal, manjal manam manakka, Makes pasta for my kids, makes me eat whenever I meet, Blesses me, gives me to read great books Gets such a thrill to see me, loves me, calls me, Always puts aside some prasadam for me And treats me as one among her own daughters. When I was to become a mom God blessed me with a very special mom Smt. Jayalakshmi For my mom couldn't be here with me In a new country, Who pampered me with food, love, So much care, that no one could imagine My husband had to drop me at her place In the mornings, and he had to come for lunch And we were only released from her ties of love after dinner In between snacks of pakodas, fresh cut fruits etc. She came home from two different states As I gave birth to my son And took care of me and my son everyday for 11 days (As she had to leave to take care of her sister’s daughter’s delivery) Came home with her special cooking gadgets illuppu chatti, pots and pans, Special cooking, special ceremony, special sweets, Everything because she loved me as her own daughter. Currently suffering from Alzheimer's Remembered me and my name though at times she forgot her own son’s It's 2-3 years now that I visited her. She always praised me for remembering and appreciating her for what she did While putting herself in second place Highlighting me for my gratitude, She adores me and wanted to live with me. She will always call me not expecting me to call, if I missed a week or two, When my mom finally was able to visit after many years She told point blank to my mom : She is my daughter, not yours, I'm sorry! My mom laughed and said she is always everyone’s daughter Nothing to worry, our pleasure, let it be so. Have fun. My mom really has the biggest heart. Her blessings are always there, I Pray for her too! Mrs.Devaki took over after Smt.Jayalakshmi left And she bathed my son, cooked for me, cleaned my kitchen, Showered her love, always cared, Conducted my first but third baby shower, second baby shower, Took care of my second son, bathed, cooked, cleaned, Visited me when I was sick, felt sorry, cooked food and sent. She was like the Mother of the town. Smt.Ramalakshmi, my mom from previous birth How did I know? I don't know. I just saw her picture at first, My soul just felt it, my heart just whispered, She is our yoga teacher’s mom, My Bil’s Balavihar teacher. Curious to see her I dropped by my friend’s place I was magically drawn to this Divine Mother. More than me she has taken me as her daughter of dharma, She claims me as born from her heart and blessed by God. And now I'm blessed with many more Moms in the IL family. Periamma, Iyerviji, Suryakala, PushpavalliSrinivasan, Jayasala42, Gita Sharma, and …. I don't know how many more to come…. Happy Mother’s Day to all my Mothers Thank you for loving me, cherishing me in your hearts, Thank you God for blessing me with so many Bless everyone with happiness, health and humor.
