Home remedy for cold and cough!

Hi,

I am looking for some home remedy for cold and cough...I tried all the medications and these cough syrups really make me sleepy....still at every weather change, I suffer from this running nose and headache...

Can anyone suggest a good home remedy for seasonal cold and cough? I heard tulsi and kaali mirch (black pepper) wen boiled in water and taken a few times a day is good and effective.

I am so fed up with these allopathic medicines that I really now want to try a good home remedy for curing this regular cold and cough.

Here you go, very effective home remedies for cold and cough....try them....i am sure you will be fine within a couple of days:

 Red onion and raw honey cough syrup

A wonderful home remedy for adults or kids suffering from a cough uses brown cane sugar, raw honey and red onions to make a soothing and tasty cough syrup.
Method: Wash, peel and slice the entire onion horizontally. Starting with the base of the onion, layer the slices in a bowl alternating with layers of raw honey or brown sugar. Continue adding layers of onion and sweetener until the entire onion is reconstructed in the bowl. Cover and allow the sweetened onion to remain in the bowl for about 12-15 hours or overnight. The next day, there will be about a cup or more of sweet syrup in the bowl. The cough syrup contains a range of nutrients, vitamins and minerals from the onion and the honey to help fight infection and soothe sore throats and quiet a cough. Take a spoonful as needed.
Raw honey and lemon for sore throats

A mixture of fresh lemon juice and raw honey provides soothing relief for sore throats and helps stop the tickle that stimulates coughing.
Raw honey is high in nutrients and enzymes which kill bacteria and viruses. The vitamin C and antioxidants found in fresh lemons boost the immune system, speeding healing. Together these two home remedies are a powerhouse for getting over a cold and sore throat. Mix the juice of 1/2 the lemon with 2 to 3 tablespoons of honey and sip throughout the day as needed.

Effective Cold & Cough Remedies

The body should be kept warm - especially the feet, chest, throat and head. Sweating is very helpful.

Take half a teaspoon of ginger juice with half a teaspoon of honey, three times a day (morning, noon and night). In winter, warm the mixture by mixing a teaspoon of warm water in it.

Mix half a cup of warm water with one teaspoon of lemon juice and one teaspoon of honey.
Dosage: Take several times a day.

In cases of dry cough (especially during the night), peel a small piece of fresh ginger. Sprinkle some salt on it and chew.

Take equal amounts of cardamom, ginger powder, black pepper and cinnamon (1 teaspoon each). Add sugar equal to the total amount of mixture and grind to make a fine powder.
Dosage: Take half a teaspoon twice daily, with honey or warm water after meals.

In cases of sore throat, a clove or two cardamoms or a few raisins can be chewed.Gargling with warm salty water two to three times a day is also beneficial.

Hi there,

I am putting down some very common home remedies for cold and cough:

Add honey and a pinch of salt to orange juice and drink it to get relief from cold, cough and throat pain.

Add pepper to guava to get relief from phlegm.

Having cow’s milk with honey cures cold.

Fresh cow’s milk with turmeric powder, drink early morning to get relief from dry cough.

Burn onion directly in the flame and eat to remove cough and chest congestion.

Betel leaves juice with honey helps in getting relief from cough.

Having a glass of milk with turmeric in the night gives relief from cold and cough.

Take equal amounts of pepper, jeera, dhaniya, ajwain, kandathippili, sathakuppai, dry neem flowers, dry ginger.Fry each till golden & crush everything together.To 2 tsp powder add 2 cups of water & boil. Reduce to 1 cup, strain, add honey & drink. Drink twice a day to get good relief from cold and cough.

In bulk the following powder can be made and stored in fridge. Chitharathai – ¼ kg, Adhi madhuram – ¼ kg, turmeric – 50 gms, omam – 25 gms. Crush it and keep it in hot sun for 2 hours. Grind it in mixie, sieve it and take out the powder. This powder can be added to hot water or to hot milk before going to bed.

-Hot water gargle at leat twice or thrice a day.
-eat jaggery (gur) along with ginger
-eat honey and ginger
-you can drink ginger and holy basil(Tulsi) tea.
Ginger is very good for cold and cough.

You can take turmeric powder & pepper in a hot milk.. Also dates soaked in honey is a good medicine for cough.. Get Well soon..

1) Take three peppercorns, and add a pinch of black cumin seeds and rock salt and consume it.

2) Drink hot milk with honey at bedtime for cough relief.

3) Make a decoction by boiling 50 grams fresh ginger with 5 tablespoon sugar in 2 glasses water for 30 minutes. Drink it hot, twice a day, in one day as this is very effective Home Remedy for Cough.

4) Mix powdered cinnamon, lemon juice and honey. Take two teaspoon twice daily.

5) In one cup of warm milk, add a pinch of turmeric powder (Haldi) and drink twice a day.

6) Mix half a teaspoon of tulsi juice with half a teaspoon of ginger juice. Add 1 teaspoon of honey. Take the above mixture 2-3 times a day. This is also useful Home Remedy for Cough

7) Prepare a mixture by adding 1/2 teaspoon honey with 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice and take it every 12 hours. Honey relieves the itchiness by moistening the throat passage.

8) Mix 8 - 10 tablespoon of coconut milk with 1 tablespoon poppy seed (powdered) and 1 tablespoon of pure honey. Take this every night before going to bed. This remedy is very good Home Remedy for Cough

9) Garlic-onion-chicken soup is an effective remedy for cough. Take it steaming hot, to give relief to irritation in throat.
