Re: Why does one breast Produce more milk??

First and foremost, congrats on your lil' one!

Secondly, touchwood! you do have a good supply!

During early hours in the morning I would produce 5 oz on the left and 2-3 oz on the right....the rest of the times, it was only 3 oz on the left and 1 oz on the right.

But you know what? Whatever I have is more than enough for my son. He's 8 months old and he feeds about 5.5 - 6 oz whenever he takes the bottle. However since I feed him directly all times except before his bedtime, I've never had a problem.

And yeah, it is pretty common for one breast to produce more than the other.......it will not be a problem....you can take it from me!

    Hunger after delivery

    Hi Mommas,
i have a query. everybody is telling me that once i deliver i'll feel hungry more and eat more. is this true. do we put on more weight. i know that when you bf your body needs more calories to make milk for the baby and so you'll eat more. how much more can you eat than you when you were pregnant.
pls tell me all experienced mommas!!!!!

    Re: Hunger after delivery

    Hi Dear

    Congrats on ur pregnancy...

I guess u have already started worrying of all these... :-D

After delivery,we would be asked to eat more since our LO would require constant supply of milk...Definietely,if u try to do a crash diet,it would reduce your milk supply..
My Gyna, asked me to take up light exercises after 3 months of delivery and also asked me not to follow any crash diet as it would reduce the milk supply...she said atleast till 6 months, dont take up any crash diet plan....

Actually i have still not started any diet plan as i have a fear that it would reduce my BM supply...and yes,it gets a little difficult to come back to the normal eating schedule which was there before pregnancy as the baby would keep talking all the nutrious things from us in the form of BM...

For me,now it is 10.5 months after delivery but i have not come back to normal diet...i dont eat the way i used to during my pregnancy and immediately after delivery but yes it has not become the old way

And weight,no i have not increased more than what i was during the last trimester...I have reduced a bit..Before pregnancy,i was 58-59...during delivery i was 77 and now i am 70...not much reduction...but another reason is i have started any diet plans...i still take PRO-PL...rich in protein and other nutrional drinks and food

Dont worry abt weight reduction now...Enjoy with ur baby, feed ur LO well...be positive...take nutrious food and do normal exercises as per ur doctor's advice and u ll get back to normal very soon

Maybe other more experienced mommies would pour in more views...

    All the best

    Re: Hunger after delivery

My lactation consultant told me that its the best time to diet, as as breastfeeding helps burn fat stores, you burn more calories during breastfeeding so if you eat healthy and eat only when hungry and drink lods of water, as sometimes we are just thirsty and not hungry and tend to over eat.If you keep you calories to 1800 cals per day yo will lose weight and keep it off as well.

My pre pregnancy weight was 55kgs and i put on 25kgs yes ! i ate everything under the sun :rotfl I lost 17kgs in two mnts just by breast feeding and eating right, i'm back in my jeans.

And it did not effect my breast milk as well, as i have over supply and and planing to give sum to local milk bank.

So just eat right !! You will see lots of difference.

thank you rose. i'll have to take care not to eat more than 1800-2000 calories per day then. i haven't gained that much weight during this pregnancy. i gained only 16 pounds and i am almost at the end of pregnancy.

    Re: Hunger after delivery

    Hi Swaran,
thank you for giving me so much info. i gained only 16pounds so far in this pregnancy and i only have abt a week to go before i deliver. so reducing this weight will not become a big problem for me. the only reason i asked is that what we after delivery we'll gain more weight. and since i had GD. my gynec told me that i may have type II diabetes in the future. i am worried abt that not that bothered abt dieting after delivery.

please don't get depressed. think of the little one. you should eat for her sake. my mom is saying i have to eat foods that help in milk production. just like a cow:rotfl
she says i have to eat karivepaku podi, dondakaya curry, eat lots of garlic and bread with milk. i don't know how much i'll be eating because till now because of GD i have been limiting my food intake. lets see. i'll let you know once i deliver.
my mil or fil didn't even call me atleast once during this pregnancy. and i conceived after so many years. they didn't even say congratulations also. what i am telling is as long as your hubby is on your side. forget about your inlaws. i keep thinking like that only.

    Ladies,

Soon after delivery, you will get more milk for baby. 1-4 months you will not get any problem. but when you diet or try to loose wt, your supply will go down. Thats the fact. Till 4mon you wont face problem but after that you may get low supply. Never diet soon after delivery or not <4mon.. Slowly you can ex and keep fit..
