    Hi ,

Fertility specialist Doctor prescribed me Clomid 100 mg , to start from 5th-9th day and she took blood sample on 4th day .

    1. Today is my 12th Day , she did an Ultra Sound and saying I didn't responded to Clomid , there were no eggs released from both ovaries, she was expecting at least 2 or 3.
    2. Doctor saying my FSH is 13.5 , which is abnormal and saying normal value is ~8 , and confirming I cannot become pregnant naturally , suggesting to with IVF.

Is it True ? that only option left for me is IVF ? Below 2 websites claiming normal range is 5 - 20 mIU/ml , for women who are still menstruating , however there is a side-note which says "Doctors believe a level higher than 10-15mIU/ml may indicate diminished fertility or diminished ovarian reserve" .

I am bit confused , can you please shed some light ? feeling very depressed ;)

    Hi Priyacutie...
What was your antral follicle count and AMH on d2? Also, what were your counts for LH, FSH, prolactin, heamoglobin, TSH, T3 & T4 on D2?

The D2 baseline is what is very important for doctors to decide on the next steps or if there is a need to medicate for adjusting the levels of the parameters before moving forward.

Thanks Wini for your response , I have not yet received reports , Technician told us FSH:13.5 might be the reason why I didn't responded to Clomid 100mg , she says I have not released even a single egg.

1 . Its was 12th day on which she did UltraSound and concluding that I have ovaries issue , not sure what if I am ovulating on 13th or 15th day ? How can she be so sure that I have serious issue in releasing egg and suggesting to undergo IVF ?

Online I am seeing couple of success stories of others who had high FSH , by undergoing Traditional Chinese Accupunture, herbs and diet suggested by them . Has anyone has any suggestions on Accupunture ? they claim , they can bring down FSH level , which eventually helps in conceiving naturally.

Please respond , feeling very depressed :(

    Hi Priya,
I think you are pressing the panic button too soon.Even if your fsh is on the higher side, its not bad.I have heard hundreds of success stories with much higher fsh levels than yours. The Fsh by itself is not a mark of your reserve nor quality of your eggs. Its usually a sum total of fsh, amh, antral follicule counts that marks your reserve.
What i wanted to know was whether your doctor stated that you havent ovulated by daya 12 or she didnt see any follicule big enuf to ovulate on day 13.Few of us have delayed ovulation,i personally never ovulate before day 17,i tend to have longer cycles.Probably you need to find out on a natural cycle whether you ovulate or not, since clomid doesnt necessary work for everyone. You can chart your temperature for knowing ovulation or buy opk's.Also you havent mentioned your age,if you are younger you pretty much have better chances.

Yes like you stated, accupuncture works great on both mind and body.I always have had perfect cycles whenever i have done it.Have heard a great deal of wheatgrass juice working on lowering fsh.
    Good luck.

Thanks Jaden , My age is 31 .

Strange thing is I always get periods on time , never missed any . I used to use PRIMOULT-N for delaying periods before marriage during any festivals or occassions . After 5 days of Clomid 100mg medication,Technician did UltraSound and said not seeing any eggs released from both ovaries and saying I didn't ovulate , afterwards we asked for blood work results , then she said FSH:13.2 which is higher than ~8 and hence chances of natural conception is very very difficult.

On the day one , they asked to go for HSG and told if tubes are blocked only option left is IVF , luckily everything was fine on my HSG test , now she is saying because of high FSH,chances of natural conceiving are remote , sometimes feels like they are move inclined towards IVF not sure if they geninuely providing facts.

This monday I have an appointment with Doctor , she is going to discuss about results and options , my DH is very supportive also ready to go for IVF if that is the only option , not sure how he is going to react if we need to go for Donor Egg :( , oh forgot to tell I did Ovulation test today using home ovulation test kit and got 2 thick lines(positive) not sure if that is just because of LH surge and If I am not actually ovulating .

    Hi Priya,
I think if thers an LH surge, you will be ovulating in no time :).Let busy. Also since you have regular periods there is a high probability that you are ovulating every month.Age being the only predictor of quality of eggs,be happy its on your side.I would say rule out the male factor and reconsider doing a few cycles of IUI with injectibles before getting down the hard road of IVF.

Your FSH is on the higher side.
However that alone will not give you the complete picture. Are you seeing a reproductive endocrinologist or just an ob-gyn? An RE is better.
They should have ordered day 3 bloodwork which will give you the complete hormone profile. The AMH value will generally tell you about ovarian reserve. It is considered more stable than FSH. They should also tell you the antral follicle count from the baseline ultrasound.
Also your husband should get tested, if he hasn't already been, to rule out any male factor issues. If there is male factor, then IVF will be the best option. However they should proceed step by step. You are still young, so you have time.

your FSH is no doubt on the higher side, what is ur AMH??, hv u anytime monitored your ovulation using ovulation kits??? the reason your doc would hv told u not ovulation is by day 12 the follicle wud be fully grown or alteast 17 mm so that in next 2-3 days it wud rupture

    Hi ,

Thanks all for your responses , today I visited doctor OB-GYN , she said 5th day FSH is 13.9 and after 5 days of Clomid 100mg 12th day FSH is 37.2 , saying I am not responded to Clomid , suggesting to go for Fertility Shots for 10 days starting from 2nd day and try either baby dancing or IUI , my DH planning to get his Semen Analysis , hopefully if everything comes normal , will try for 3 or 4 cycles using Fertility shots and BDing.

She mentioned my AMH is 0.6 (low) . Does anyone had success using Fertility Shots ? Doctor mentioned most of them get pregnant by cyle 3 ,if everything fine with DH side , fingers crossed :(

    Regards
    Priya

Go see a reproductive endocrinologist (RE) ASAP, even for IUI.
With a combination of high FSH and low AMH you do not want to waste any time. An RE is much better equipped to handle these issues.
