This wooden structure is a cave temple constructed in 1553 is the temple of Hidimba, one of the rakshasa..

character in the epic Mahabaratha, who marries Bhima and give birth to Gatothkacha. I know not much about this deity, but the nature surrounding this temple is amazing. It is amidst a reserved Cedar forest (devadharu) where the ancient trees stand tall to a height of nearly approx 100 meters. The enormity of nature humbles you. The temple itself is close to 24 meter tall with wooden pillars. Apart from a small idol of Devi, the foot print on the rock inside the cave is worshiped, and an interesting fact about this area is that, when viewed thru google satellite map one can see a giant foot print that spans across the valley!!!

Thanks for sharing the pic of the temple and the footprint.
I have some special reverence for this rakshasa lady who sent her son Ghatodgaja to fight on behalf of Pandavas at Kurukshetra though she did not get the privilidges of being wife of Bhima.
Planning to visit this place.
