Can anyone tell me what Aari work is called in English. Also I am told that lap frame is useful to do embroidery work. What size should I buy for Aari work. Presently I am in the US and would like to buy one. I have no room in my house for an Aari cot. lakshmi
I am here to say that your question is too short and it really takes a tactic to select it. It took 10 min for me to get hold of it. If you care to change, you will get more answers.
lakshmi, you can change the "title" of this thread by "Editing" and changing it from just "Hi" to something like "Can anyone tell me about Aari work", that way it will be easier for other ILites to click on the "title" and get in here :coffee clicking on just the Hi is not easy
Hi lakshmi, If im right its called tambour needle work... but the needle will not be exactly like the one we use for Aari. It has a lock system...so when u take the needle from the cloth the lock will prevent the thread from slipping. And regarding frame for aari.... larger the frame, easier it would be to rest on our table or hands. For blouses you*can use sizes 14inch and above... then again it depends on the work area.
Thankyou heron for your prompt reply. I thought that I was clear in what I wanted. But it seems tha I have confused you. Next time I will be clearer. Lakshmi
Dear Chachi Yes I mean the aari work that you have shown. It is very pretty. Did you do it using the round frame that you have shown it with? ?
When I said that I dont have space in my house for the aari cot I meant the the traditional 6 ft cot that many of my friends have. Secondly I want a frame that will help me to work hands free,ie wherer I can use both my hands and the stand can be kept on a low stool. That is why I had enquired about the lap frame. In the round stand that you have sent a picture of, doesnt the frame pop out of the frameevery time you try to make the fabric tight on the frame? I hope I have made myself clear? Lakshmi
