I am thinking of the raised bed method for my vegetable garden, but have some questions about it. Hoping that those of you who have done this already can help me out. 1) In this method do you cover up the base and fill soil in the raised bed and use just this container soil for your plants or do you leave the base uncovered and let the roots go deeper. 2) If you cover the base, then what is the height of the raised bed needed for sufficient plant growth. Hope garden enthusiasts can help me.
Hi raised beds can be covered from bottom or open. The basic idea is to give rich nutrient filled soil in the form of a raised bed, so that the vegtables can remain in a confined area. You can easily plan the layout of a raised bed, partition them such that each portion is dedicated to a particular vegetable. It also becomes easy to replace the soil once the crop is harvested. rgds
