Help me and my kids !!??? I noticed that lately I am grinding my teeth when I sleep. A huge chuck of my molars broke off.
And now I notice my kids are grinding their teeth too.
Can you please help me out. !?? What should I do ??! I have asked my dentist, my general practitioner and pediatrician but they did not recommend anything and said sometimes it happens.
    Help !!!
    Someone must know the remedy!

During childhood my daughter in her night sleep had experienced this difficulty somewhat in milder way. My mother made her perform simple exercise for a few days before she went to sleep.
Close your lips gently while preventing your top and bottom teeth from touching.
Press your tongue against the roof of your mouth without it touching your teeth. Hold this position for as long as you can.

Another exercise is designed to help with movement of the jaw:
Put your hands on your TMJ joints (where the lower jaw connects.
Slowly open your mouth. Hold your mouth open for 5-10 seconds.
    Slowly close your mouth.

I searched online and it looks like dentist should be prescribing mouth guards. But they didn’t. What do they do in India ?? Sorry this is a weird and dangerous problem as I see my molars are broken. Will be grateful to any help as soon as possible !!

It looks like it’s contagious too !! I asked my doctors and kids’ pediatrician about worms. ( Which I read online). Again no response.

    Hi
I totally understand how you feel. I have this issue and been dealing with TMJ issues for more than 4 years.
I have seen lots of doctors and specialists and no answers. They told me that I am grinding and clenching my teeth. I have so much of wear and tear on my teeth and enamel all wore off.
I even lost one of my molar (first lower molar) for this pain as they believed that tooth is causing my pain. Unfortunately it didn't and I extracted that tooth though. Didn't replace it yet with an implant.

I have tried several mouth guards and still didn't control my issues. I do have a night guard which I use now. By seeing my night guard, my dentist said that I am grinding and clenching more as it's torn off more.

But using a mouth guard is helpful for you to avoid more damage to the teeth. Did you ask your dentist about it? How did you realize that you are grinding?

Did you hear the noise and woke up from sleep? I woke up many times in sleep by hearing the sound and immediately woke up from sleep.

How old are your kids? Did you take them to the dentist?

Stress and anxiety also makes one grind their tooth.

I have had mouth guards to wear at night and it really helped … I notice that I grind or clench teeth when stressed .. and my dentist mentioned that it’s very often the case with a lot of people. I don’t wear it now but there was a phase where the grinding was that bad that I had to wear it everyday else I’d wake up with jaw pain in the morning.

Ask for a custom mouth guard to wear at night from your dentist and if they can’t give it, find another one who can custom make it for you.

I can hear my son grinding his teeth in his sleep. And once I was grinding my teeth when I was just about to wake up and a portion of my molars all chipped off at the same place when I woke up. It is a pity to ruin my teeth myself. I’m desperate trying to solve this issue for both myself and my son but not getting the proper help I need.

Whether your jaw pain reduced at any time? Mine is bothering me for 4+ years now.
