You're 100% correct, it comes most likely from Indian stores . I see elderly ladies with magnifying glass on lentil aisle, I used to wonder why.... Later found out after seeing these little red bugs...
How to avoid them while purchasing groceries?
However I check multiple times they come over...

Wheat flour bag is 5 kgs. There is no way I could finish early , just for 2 people !
I threw away all flours which were attacked.
I Already mentioned that for more than 2 months dint use any grains/ cereals / flours. So may be for not using them in long time , they would have appeared. :pensive:.
Before that I’m sure there were none :shakehead:.
So decided from now on , will buy all in small quantities

    Yes.

Some time ago, I mentioned to the manager of our local Patel's that I had found bugs in the dal and had had to throw it away. He remarked that it was probably because I had stored it before use. He was right — I had stored the bag unopened for a couple of weeks. He recommended using grains right away. Since the packages were unopened, I guess they contained eggs all along.

I buy grains and spices from regular grocery stores now. Never had a bug issue with them.

DH says bugs are a good sign because it means there are no harmful pesticides in the product.

Actually I agree this with lettuce or any other veggies but with grains I guess it probably could be very old stock.

I'm squeamish. I'll pass on the bugs.
