The attending physician is probably the best one to discuss this face to face. In India it is considered best to get the bone marrow from a sibling. A three year old in a neighbouring apartment in our apartment block about ten years back had to have B M T. I offered to donate. Refused on two counts. I was over sixty and not a sibling. The unfortunate parents' marrow did not match. It was an only child without siblings. A sad case by every count. Bone Marrow Transplant is like an organ transplant. Similar type of tissue matching has to be done.
