Help needed regarding ECR check in passport

hi friends,

I am staying in sharjah for past 4 years
I have planned to bring my parents in 1 month visit visa.
My mother's passport has ECR stamp.
She is in her 40's.
Whether she need to get any clearance from immigration office in india to travel to UAE in visit visa?
If yes where and how it should be done?
We couldnot get any clear idea when v enquired about it in india thro' agents.
Please if anyone has come across this situation help me to clear this issue.

Your mum have to visit the local Police station and get the clearance letter. It is a matter of minutes if u give money to police man

dear Lakshmi,
My mother faced the same problem and she was stopped in chennai airport but my mother argued that she was not aware of it and she was just coming here to visit her grandchildren and cried .so the officer in the airport gave a temporary clearance and she came here.but this was just luck.but the same officer told her to get one by submitting all the documents morning in the passport office along with the fees and you will get back the passport in the evening.she did the same after going back and got it.
Ask your mom to go directly.it is fast and better that way.senior citizens are exempted from ecnr seal.they do not require it.

Thx for ur reply.But i want to know when(year) did ur mother come here and at what age?becoz the agents and web sources say ,ecr clearance is not required for visit visa.Where did ur mother get the clearance?Protector of emmigrants is the place to get it before.But now no one is telling clearly?If u could tell me the above details it will be helpful for my parents to have a safe journey

You can get this done from the passport office also. I have done it for my passport long back.

Hi Lakshmi,
My mom came here in visit visa only in the yr 2000 and she was asked to get ecnr as she was not a senior citizen(her age was less than 60) at that time.Any way it is better to get ecnr and i have stated in my previous post that my mom got it from the passport office in chennai

Please note the following :

1) If you mother qualified 10th class and above, submit the attested document to passport authority and they will stamp ECNR stamp i.e permanent

2) If your mother passport is renewed or about renew, you need to submit any documents. By default your mother gets ECNR status

3) Age above 50 are allowed to obtain ECNR status by providing age proof documents

4)If all the above things can not be done,

Once your travel plan is fixed, visit passport office along with visa copy, Return ticket copy and passport before 48hrs of your journey. They will allow for that particular visit.

5) If you are smart enough, 4hrs before your mother journey, let her request authorities as she is not aware. Immigration office at Airport has rights to give clearance but this only assumption and not genuine attempt

Hi lakshmi,
If ur father passport as ecnr then your mother is eligible for ecnr in her passport and this can be done in passport oficce ( 1 day service)
