Muscat: Places to stay: ramada , Al qurum beach is good and reasonable. Heard safeer suites are also good, never tried. Slightly awat from the city centre, Hotel Muscat holiday is good. Visit: Sultan qaboos mosque, dolphin bay, old muscat, matrah and souk, palace, Krishna and Shiva temples. Pure vegetarian: kamat (2 branches). Punjabi Dhaba. Car hire: no idea Salalah: Places to stay: crowne plaza and Hilton both have beach resorts, all inclusive packages are available. You can check. Visit: frakincence museum,Nabi Ayob tomb, 1 castle (forgot the name), anti gravity point, black hole. Pure vegetarian: only 1 udipi restaurant in the city center. Car hire: no idea. Happy journey and enjoy your trip
Thank U soo much..now to Maps to check which among the above hotels you mentioned is close to kamat / udipi ..
Safeer suites are reasonable and good. Saravana bhavan, vasanta bhavan, sohar and ghasita ram close to the suite. Try nakhal, rushtaq and sink hole. There is sur ras al hidd the turtle beach too. Qantab beach and tiwi beaches.wadi sham and wadi bani khalid. I would also say check out jebel akdhar.(as i tell my friends oman is a place you need more time to see) and the al hooti caves that host the blind fish. Salalah the falls if any. The found old city the tombs the anti gravity point, the blow holes and the lake oasis wadi darbat . You can rent a car. There are buses to salalah overnight that is comfortable. Locally you can rent a car if you hold gcc license i presume
@Shanvy, wow more detailed that is But can they cover so much in 2 days? And yeah, forgot the falls in Salalah!! How silly of me @balasri if you are a gcc resident, you can drive around renting a car, provided you have a valid driving licence. But in general Omanis are very warm and courteous. They are very helpful and cabs are mostly driven by omanis. Maybe you could keep them as an option. And ya, Muscat holiday is close to the smaller branch of kamat. Both are in Al khuwair near the lulu. But they are away from the city centre. BAd idea if you don't have good transport. The other kamat is closer to the city centre.
I did not mention wahiba sands @dnormx01. Actually driving through oman itself is abpleasure. Muscat is now a little crowded but still a pleasure. There is al sawadi beach. Masirah islands too. Grand mosque too. That is what i mentioned 2 days are not enough.
yes dnormx01 !!!(whats your name btw ..my husband has a gcc dl, but now we are thinking we will use the cab.. but looking at the safeers, i am getting confused soo many safeers!! saffer hotel suites, safeer plaza!!, safeer continental, safeer international!! but I think Shanvy meant safeer hotel suites only..trying to book online. Hoping that if we plan well, we can cover the places suggested by you and Shanvy within the 2 days in muscat and 2 days in Salalah.
There are travels that arrange tours. I forgot the names. One day trips that cover a few places at one stretch.
@balasri : yeah she and me both mentioned safeer suites only. and @Shanvy 's idea is perfect. Book with a tour operator, they will take you around and plan things and it makes it much much easier. check tripadvisor or expedia for tour operators with reviews, not sure muscat has the big red bus. Oh they do have it! Muscat Bus Tours | Hop-On Hop-Off Muscat | Big Bus Tours
