    Hi I’lites,

Currently I have a Hawkins cooker gifted by my friend during marriage. So I just started using it without knowing the options available in the market. I ‘am in the process of buying a new pressure cooker.

    My requirements are:
    1. It should take less time to cook.
    2. I should be able to keep compartments into it, like rice and dhal together in two different compartments and should be able to cook in one go.
    3. Easy to clean.

When I browsed the net I find many options like the normal aluminium cookers, stainless steel, and Anodized cookers. They look very trendy and look like non stick ones.

Can some one tell me what does hard anodized cooker means? What are its advantages and disadvantages? Does any one have experience cooking in it...? What are the best brands available; I have selected Prestige and Hawkins.

Please take the safety points too and help me narrow down on my selection to a good pressure cooker...

Hard anodizing is a treatment to make aluminium products stronger.

I have a 5L Prestige hard anodized cooker. It is not exactly a non-stick cooker but stir fries definitely take less oil than the traditional aluminium ones. Food doesnt stick much. So easier to clean than the aluminium cookers. But make sure you dont use very abrasive scourers like metal ones.

When i was purchasing pressure cooker, i too was looking for compartments. But it seems there is no supply of compartments from Prestige. So i had to buy separately from a steel utensils shop.

    hi,

i have the new prestige deluxe stainless steel 3.5 lts cooker. we can keep compartments in it. unlike aluminum pressure cooker, this does not leave marks when we use it continuously for keeping compartments inside. easy to maintain and time saving. it also has a pressure indicator in the lid.

    regards
    revathi.

Thank you all for your beautiful suggestions.

I have finally zeroed onto the prestige anodized cooker. And regarding the compartments we need to get it in steel shops only.. They also have an exchange offer and discount on their brands now!

    Thanks all once again!
