    Hi prr,

Once again thanks for all your info. As you mentioned ordering online is quite expensive, almost half the price of the whole set.

Will try to find oster/osterizer service center nearby.

    Cheers

one of my frd ordered the mini jaar tht i have mentioned above for Oster mixie n when after delivery ...she tried to fix it wid mixie ...but it doent work. as the jar's handle is not allowing to fix with mixer.
Though the small jaar has made to work with his oster model as per the site says.
so be careful while ordering blender parts.

    hi,
This thread reminded me of the olden days when I first came to US in 1999 to the bay area,California... My experience was that idli was better only if the ratio was 2:1 i.e. two parts rice and one part urad dal while doing it in mixi. I heard complaints from my friends that they had to throw away their mixi(US BLENDERS) every 6 or eight months just because they were grinding idli/dosa batter. I tried grinding it in instalments and was running the blender only for 45 seconds ocntinuously everytime and not more than that. Only then the batter was okay and the blender was also safe. One of my friend also suggested me Idli rava for making idlies and her idlies will be very good. The ratio is the same 2:1 which is 2 parts idly rava and one part urad dal. You can try this. But as everybody had suggested, it is really worth to have a grinder here...

    cheers
    raji

    Hi prasannakiran,

You can get Osterizer 14 speed blender with stainless steel blades.
It costs about $25-$30. You can get this at Walmart/Target.

This is more than enough to make batters, chutneys, juices, lassis etc. You can also make dry powders like rasam powder, paruppu podi, idli milagai podi etc.

    Cheers
    Krithika
