    hey...

there are different varieties of brown rice... easily cooked (that is cooking done within 15 minutes) ones doesnt taste good... i tried many such varieties... but we use the one which takes half hr cook time in d cooker!! and it tastes good... my son likes it more than white rice or chapati/roti!!

wheat rava is good, especially the samba variety. Brown rice is also ok if you consume it really hot, but it is a lot chewier than white rice, so we need a bit of patience.

Have anyone of you tried Quinoa(pronounced as kinwa) as a replacement for rice, it is quite high in protein and has comparatively less carbs than rice.

Why try replacing rice with something healthy? Rice itself is very healthy and nutritious.

    Rice contains amino acids.

Dal and rice is a perfect combination to get all the amino acids from vegetarian food.

I should try samba rava as a alternative to rice. Always used samba rava only to make upma. Never imagined it with sambar and rasam.
