People who lose large amounts of weight like ten kg or above, should emphasise on maintenance plans, otherwise the weight is sure to rebound.
Plan a slow but steady loss of weight; go for medium amount of loss rather than drastic loss.

In case of a bruise, the first thing to do is to apply an ice pack over it. This will enable the injured blood vessel to constrict, thus reducing swelling.

This will also numb the pain. A day after applying the cold pack, use heating pads over the affected area. This will dilate the blood vessels and increase the circulation.

    Today's tip:

While running, breathe from your belly or diaphragm, not your chest.
Try lying on your back and watching your stomach as you breath. If you are breathing correctly, it should rise and fall with each breath, while your chest remains relatively motionless. Keep this feeling with you as you run.

Don't watch television or read when you're lying down in bed. Instead, sit up with your back supported by headboard and knees bent.
When you lift your head to view the screen or raise your arms to hold a book, you generate an isometric contraction that strains your muscles and can cause pain in your neck, head or shoulders. To watch TV or read in bed, sit up with your back supported by the headboard and your knees bent.

    Today's tip:

Juggling balls is a good exercise for your brain which can produce significant changes to the structure of your brain.

Juggling can also help boost your reaction time, hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. According to scientists at Oxford University, complex tasks such as juggling can produce significant changes to the structure of your brain. As per the study, the scientists saw a 5% increase in white matter - the cabling network of the brain. Changes in the grey matter, where the processing and computation in the brain happens, were earlier shown by German researchers in a study published in the journal Nature.

Women should eat more of iron rich foods like spinach, lentils, almonds & fish as they are more prone to iron deficiency and need more iron than men.
Women lose a lot of iron during menstruation (because of blood loss). Iron is essential for the production of red blood cells which helps in the transportation of oxygen throughout your body. Iron deficiency can lead to symptoms like fatigue, pallor and headaches. They should also include foods containing vitamin C in their diet, as it can substantially increase the amount iron absorbed from the plant sources.

Avoid drinking soft drinks as they are high in phosphorus which leads to increase in calcium loss putting you at risk for osteoporosis.
The phosphorus contained in soft drinks (as phosphoric acid) disrupts the calcium-phosphorus ratio in the body, which leads to increase in calcium loss in the urine. This can increase a person's risk of developing osteoporosis.

Eat a couple of squares of dark chocolate when you feel that you must have something nice and sweet.
Cocoa and dark chocolate are rich in flavonoids and antioxidants, chemical compounds that help protect against the harmful products of oxygen reactions (know as "free radicals") in body tissues. These free radicals have been linked to the development of heart disease and some cancers. Eat the right amount of dark chocolate and you can lower your blood pressure, relax your blood vessels and your insulin will work better.
The amount of chocolate intake should be moderate in order to enjoy optimum health benefits. Chocolate is a calorie rich food with a high sugar and fat content, so regular consumption of chocolate requires reducing the caloric intake of other foods. Choose the purest dark chocolate you can find – the more raw and unprocessed, the higher the flavonoid content.

Avoid starvation at all costs, as this signals your body to get into famine mode and thus the body holds fat very effectively.
