Use this powder instead of soap.

Red Hibiscus flowers - 2 ( five petalled is ideal ) Tulsi leaves - few Dry roast each & powder: Dhaniya - 1 tsp Dry ginger - 1 piece Pepper - ½ tsp Ajwain ( omum) - ¼ tsp Cardamom - 2 Milk - 1cup Panangkalkandu or panaivellam ( karuppatti) is ideally suited for this. Boil hibiscus flowers & tulsi leaves with 1 cup of water & strain. Boil milk, add the strained liquid & 2 tsp powder. Give a boil & add either of the sweetening agent. Strain & use.
Jeeraka Podi: - Ideal to eat “post deepavali” Jeera - !/3 cup Pepper - 1 heaped tsp Dry Ginger - 3” Omum (ajwain) - 1 tsp Salt Fry jeera, pepper & omum individually on a dry kadai till aroma comes. Crush dry ginger into small pieces & dry roast. Lightly roast rock salt also. Cool all ingredients & powder together. Mix with hot rice & ghee. Alternatively, you can add this powder to rice & ghee, add little lime juice & finely chopped coriander leaves Mix well & eat. Use less of this powder first, add little more, if necessary. I once made this for a lunch, where all other items were slightly heavy like channa, bathura etc. This just “ vanished “ ! Second recipe: Jeera - 1 ½ tbsp Urad dhal - 1 tsp Pepper - 1 tsp Red chillies - 2, 3 Hing - 1 tsp Curry leaves - 1 tbsp Salt Oil - 1 tsp Heat oil, fry jeera lightly & remove. Next in the same oil, fry pepper & remove. Lastly fry red chillies, urad dhal, hing, curry leaves & finally add salt & switch off. Powder all ingredients together. Serve with hot rice & ghee.
Digestive Lehiam – use it to prevent heaviness after a spicy meal. Ginger - 200 gms (tender variety) Dry ginger - 2” Khus khus - 3 tsp Malai or top of milk - 3 tsp Jaggery - 500gms Ghee - 100gms Clean & grate ginger. Grind & extract the juice. Grind fine khus khus, dry ginger & malai. Make a one string syrup with jaggery after heating with 2 cups of water & straining. Add the paste, ginger juice & stir well, adding ghee to lehiya patham or becomes a fairly thick paste. Can be preserved in the fridge for more than a month.
hi mrs.chitra i was just going thru ur home remedies index and saw solutions for running nose,cough cold etc....can u also tell sum home made remedy for heat bodies....like my hubby takes oil bath every week...but still he feels the heat thru the week....i try to give him a cucumber for lunch every day...but is there any other ancient technique by which we can control the heat in the body?? lov sowmini
Dear Sowmini, Let me give you 2 simple remedies: Soak 1 tsp venthayam in 1/2 cup of water overnight. Swallow it with water, first thing in the morning. Chop small onions & lightly saute in 1 tsp oil. First mix this with hot rice & eat before proceeding with the rest of the items. Love, Chithra.
