Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong invoked India's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru while arguing how democracy should work in the city-state during a passionate debate in Parliament. He was speaking during the debate on the Committee of Privileges’ report on complaints about untruths told by former Workers’ Party lawmaker Raeesah Khan. The Congress party in India has meanwhile used the occasion to attack PM Modi, saying while foreign leaders are invoking Nehru, India's own premier is denigrating the country's first prime minister.
