Hello Moderator & All. I am in a real messy situation and I would be highly grateful to you all if you please sort out my doubt or problem. I am current working with an IT major at Kolkata, India and currently on a training to USA on B1 visa. I will be returning on the last week of April 2010. My husband is holding H1 and he is also working for an IT major. He will be travelling onsite to US for work during May and I also want to go along with him on H4 (his company will sponsor my H4). My question is - 1. If I go on stamping with him during May 2010, will I have to resign by that time and will I have to show any document of resignation to the US Consolate? 2. Does the consolate reject H4 stamping as I hold a B1 visa? 3. Does at any point of time I need to show my resignation or release letter to anybody? I am in real mess and love my hubby very much, I do not want to stay separate from him any longer. So, I beg to you all ladies - please help me!
1. If I go on stamping with him during May 2010, will I have to resign by that time and will I have to show any document of resignation to the US Consolate? No need to resign. In case they ask any questions about ur work, you can say that you are not planning to work in US. 2. Does the consolate reject H4 stamping as I hold a B1 visa? Not sure, but I don't think so. 3. Does at any point of time I need to show my resignation or release letter to anybody? No need.
thank you so much coollife. I really appreciate your help. I will come to you for any further help. I hope I can stay with my hubby from now on forever.
There is nothing to worry, just be calm and relaxed when you appear for the h4 interview. If asked, make it very clear that you have no plans to work in US. There are chances that they will cancel the B1 visa as its a business visa when they stamp H4 - but it depends! Good Luck!
